The chilled casting method is widely used in the metal casting industry to accelerate the mold's cooling rate. This method is very suitable for surface hardening by depositing the elements contained in the chill material onto the surface of the object being cast. One of the factors that influence surface hardness characteristics is the diffusion temperature. This study aims to determine the microhardness, surface layer thickness, and the element contained on the surface. The main material produced into Y-Block is ductile cast iron, the chill material is SS 304 plate with a thickness of 0.2mm. Em meados do século XIX, com a abertura dos portos japoneses ao ocidente, a troca cultural influenciou artistas de ambos os lados. Ainda hoje, é possível observar o fascínio e interesse despertado por essa cultura nos olhos ocidentais. Observando a crescente quantidade de produtos japoneses que chegam ao mercado todos os dias, a busca por parte dos consumidores por esses produtos com características estéticas tão diferentes e o forte crescimento do setor de decoração, propõe-se desenvolver uma coleção de padrões para aplicação como papéis de parede de uso domiciliar e possível lançamento nas coleções de inverno 2016. Utilizou-se dos brasões heráldicos japoneses como base para desenvolvimento dos padrões, buscando transmitir a estes as mesmas características estéticas de simplicidade e concisão formal da arte japonesa.

Çözeltilerin Yüzey Gerilimi • Çözünen tanecikler içteki çözücü moleküllerinin yüzeydeki çözücü moleküllerini içe doğru çekmesini belli ölçüde engellediğinden çözeltilerin yüzey gerilimi saf çözücüye göre genellikle düşüktür. • Çözücünün yüzey gerilimini düşüren maddeler yüzey aktif, değiştirmeyenler ise yüzey inaktif olarak isimlendirilmektedir. Sulu çözeltiler için yüzey aktif maddeleri; organik asitler, alkoller, esterler, eterler,aminler ve ketonlar şeklinde; yüzey inaktif maddeleri ise inorganik elektrolitler,organik asitlerin tuzları, molar kütleleri küçük olan bazlar yanında şeker ve gliserin gibi uçucu ve elektrolit olmayan maddeler şeklinde sıralayabiliriz.
Çözeltilerin Yüzey Gerilimi • Yağ asitleri gibi suyun yüzey gerilimini önemli ölçüde düşüren maddeler, hem polar hidrofilik (su seven) grup hem de apolar hidrofobik (su sevmeyen)grup ihtiva ederler. • Yağ asitlerindeki –COOH grubu gibi hidrofilik gruplar, eğer molekülün kalan apolar kısmı çok büyük değilse, molekülün çözünürlüğünü arttırır. • Yağ asitlerinin hidrokarbon kısımları bir sulu çözeltinin iç kısımlarında rahatsızlık duyarlar (yani yüksek bir serbest enerjiye sahiptirler) ve onlar sıvının iç kısmından yüzeye getirmek çok az iş gerektirir. • Bu sebeple yüzey gerilimini düşüren bir çözünen (yüzey aktif madde), çözeltinin yüzey tabakalarında birikir. • Böyle çözünenlerin ara yüzeyde “pozitif adsorblandığı” söylenir.
Tuz Yüzey Gerilimini Etkiler mi? • İyonik tuzlar, genellikle sulu çözeltilerin yüzey gerilimini saf suya göre arttırırlar. • Çözünmüş iyonların yüzey gerilimini yükseltmesinin sebebi, bu iyonlarla su molekülleri arasında meydana gelen iyon- dipol etkileşimlerinin sonucu olarak, su moleküllerinin çözeltinin iç kısımlarına doğru çekilmesidir. • Bu sebeple yeni yüzey oluşturmak için elektrostatik kuvvetlere karşı ilave iş yapılması gerekir. • Böyle çözeltilerde yüzey tabakaları çözünen maddece daha fakirdir. • Yani çözünen madde, yüzey yerine çözeltinin iç kısımlarında toplanır. Bu gibi hallerde çözünenin “negatif adsorblandığı” söylenir.

Este trabalho, de base projetual, teve como proposta a criação de uma coleção de padrões de Design de Superfície para a Fundação Casa Grande, uma ONG (situada em Nova Olinda-CE) que facilita o acesso à cultura, formando crianças e jovens em Gestão Cultural através da vivência em seus laboratórios de produção e conteúdo. A construção da fundamentação teórica deste trabalho baseou-se no estudo de conceitos, fundamentos e técnicas do Design de Superfície, assim como no estudo de técnicas de Estamparia, e ainda na apresentação da própria Fundação Casa Grande. Para o desenvolvimento projetual foi aplicada a metodologia de Lima (2013), na qual são propostas as etapas projetuais para Design de Superfície. A partir dessa metodologia, foram realizadas adaptações em algumas de suas fases, de forma a adequá-la ao contexto estudado e permitir um bom desenvolvimento do projeto. Como resultado deste trabalho é apresentada uma coleção, composta por 6 padrões, com motivos inspirados nos símbolos e objetos que identificam, promovem e valorizam a Fundação Casa Grande – Memorial do Homem Kariri.

Resumo Este artigo relata o desenvolvimento e a aplicação do jogo Lógicas Criativas, planejado como ferramenta de apoio às aulas nas áreas de Educação Artística, Artes Visuais, Design e demais campos que desenvolvem composição visual. O jogo pretende estimular a criatividade e o desenvolvimento de trabalhos originais, apoiando o estudante no desenvolvimento de seus próprios procedimentos e na descoberta de suas lógicas criativas. Para tanto foram consideradas teorias de criatividade aliadas à observação dos alunos na realização de seus projetos de design em sala de aula. Ao final, apresentamos alguns resultados: estampas desenvolvidas a partir do jogo. Abstract This paper reports the development and implementation of the game Creative Logics, designed as a tool to support classes in the areas of Artistic Education, Visual Arts, Design and other fields that develop visual composition. The game aims to stimulate the creativity and the development of original works, supporting the students in developing their own procedures and the discovery of their creative logic. For that were considered theories of creativity allied to the observation of the students in carrying out their design projects in the classroom. Finally, we present some results: prints developed from the game.

A falta de aderência da argamassa de revestimento em superfícies de concreto nas edificações manifesta-se pelo seu descolamento ou desplacamento. Visando aumentar a aderência do revestimento à estrutura de concreto, frequentemente se realiza o chapisco, cuja qualidade é dependente do traço e da experiência do operário. Quando o chapisco não é aplicado com eficiência, pode causar o aparecimento de patologia como a queda do revestimento. Assim posto, esse trabalho buscou criar textura para a superfície do concreto, visando eliminar a aplicação do chapisco, ampliando o controle técnico da rugosidade e aderência do revestimento. Para a criação da textura utilizou-se como inspiração o córtex inferior de líquen, devido a sua função de aderência sobre substratos. Foram utilizadas tecnologias de digitalização tridimensional para a aquisição da morfologia dos líquens e usinagem CNC de MDF para a confecção do molde do concreto. Foram confeccionadas placas de concreto texturizados a partir dos moldes usinados, e placas lisas que receberam chapisco convencional. Todas as placas foram revestidas com argamassa. Foram realizados ensaios de resistência de aderência à tração em conformidade com a NBR 13528, cujos resultados das amostras com a textura do líquen se mostraram significativamente superiores comparados com as amostras que receberam o chapisco.

ÖZ Ecole des Beaux-Arts ve Bauhaus tasarım okullarında yürütülen uygulamalı tasarım stüdyolarından köklenen 'yaparak öğrenme' metodu, günümüzde trans disipliner bakış ile eğitime hizmet eden araçlardan birini oluşturmaktadır. İç mimarlık ölçeğinde atölye eğitimi, uygulamalı olarak gerçekleştirilmekle birlikte tasarımın çıkış noktası olarak kavram gelişiminin bilişsel ve yaratıcı sürecini barındırmaktadır. Bu sürecin aktörü konumunda yer alan öğrenciler, sürece yön verecek anahtar kelimelere ulaşmayı hedeflemektedir. Böylelikle, anahtar kelimelerin karşılıklarının plan düzleminde ve mekânın üçüncü boyuttaki bileşenleriyle aktarım konusu öğrencilerin yüzleşmekte olduğu bir 'uygulama' sorunu olarak kabul edilebilir. Çalışmanın amacı ve konusu bu sorunsala bağlı olarak oluşum göstermiş, atölye ortamında renk ve örüntü çalışması, kavram aktarım aracı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Örüntü ve renk çalışmalarının kavram aktarım aracı olarak iç mekân atölyesi, proje konusunda yer alan çalışmalarla desteklenmesi, Temel Tasarım Eğitimi ile bağlantı kurarak edinilen bilginin sürekliliğini sağlamak bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı, bilginin sürekliliği ve aktarımında yer alan renk-örüntü çalışmalarının, iç mimari ölçekte önemini ve etkisini vurgulamaktır. İkinci sınıf tasarım stüdyosu kapsamında programlanmış çalışma 'Bir Ticari İşlev için Çekirdek Mekân' başlığı altında, kurum kimliği ile kavramsal yaklaşımın oluşturulması ve mekânsal karşılığı olan stant tasarımının arayışı hedeflenmiştir. Böylelikle atölye temasında yer alan program kapsamına on beş öğrenciyi almış, atölye sürecinin mekânsal planlama aşamasını takip eden, sekiz saat süreli sınıf içi üretimini içermiştir. Stüdyo çalışmanın tanımlı bir sürecini oluşturan bu araştırma, renk ve örüntü dilinin sonsuz olasılığını katılımcılarına aktarmayı hedefleyen pedagojik bir yaklaşımı içermiştir. Böylece çalışma sonucunda, kurum kimliği, mekân algısı, kullanıcı ve fiziki bileşenler göz önünde bulundurulmuş, kavramsal düşünme becerisinin somut anlamlandırma yolu ile geliştirilmiştir. Bu yaklaşımın ise tasarım sürecine etki ettiği gözlemlenmiş, ürün çıktı kalitesini arttırdığı sonucuna varılmıştır. İlerleyen çalışmalar için detaylı test edilme gerekliliği de çalışmanın sonuçlarından biridir.



ABSTRACT 'Learning by Doing' method, that takes its origin ideas from Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Bauhaus design schools, serves education with interdisciplinary vision. Studio education in consideration with interior design, is practiced with creating applications beside its consistence of cognitive and creative process. Students in this process aim to reach keywords that lead design processes. With this way, convection of these keywords in plan geometries and three-dimensional design elements of spaces could be considered as an 'application' problem that students faced with in the process. The aim and scope of this study takes its roots from this defined problem and designing patterns with colors in studio environment considered as tools to convey conceptual ideas.

The article reports results of using approximation and retopology to improve the accuracy of block
patterns extracted from 3D models of clothing through the application of UV-mapping. An analysis of 1940s
dresses was carried out and historical design solutions systematized. A list of 3dsMax geometric primitives for
approximating the surface of historical clothing was proposed. On the example of a set-in sleeve of a dress, a
retopology was performed and an increase in the accuracy of the generated block pattern was shown.

Este artigo trata dos ladrilhos hidráulicos como artefatos de design que encerram memórias, dos quais se fez um inventário na cidade de Belo Horizonte, a partir de fotografias e representações vetoriais. Uma vez registrados e vetorizados, os padrões gráficos estão sendo disponibilizados em um acervo que estabelece relações com a história dos edifícios onde os ladrilhos ainda hoje estão instalados. Desta forma, busca-se contribuir para o registro da memória da cidade e de suas edificações da primeira metade do século XIX, quando os ladrilhos hidráulicos estiveram mais presentes na arquitetura, principalmente nos prédios públicos, e que atendiam ao requinte e aos padrões modernos da Nova Capital do Estado de Minas Gerais. O trabalho tem por objetivo resgatar da invisibilidade os ladrilhos hidráulicos preservados na cidade, proporcionando a revitalização dos tradicionais modelos gráficos e aplicando-os em novos produtos de arte, design e artesanato tentando relacioná-los à cidade como um território, considerando seu contexto social, cultural, político e econômico. O texto apresenta resultados parciais de pesquisa doutoral em design.

This article aims to make considerations on the relationship between Surface Design and
Product Design. Demand is clarified, therefore, the processes of interference Surface Design
of Product Design, examining specific aspects through cognitive, functional and aesthetic
perception.. In this context the enphasis goes to the characteristics of the resulting
interference, treatment on the surface of the products and the use of the properties of
materials, both in the product and in the Jewelry and Crafts, with the aim of reaching an
understanding about surface and its relationship with the product/ object.

In contrast to the traditional 3D printing process, where material is deposited layer-by-layer on horizontal flat surfaces, conformal 3D printing enables users to create structures on non-planar surfaces for different and innovative applications. Translating a 2D pattern to any arbitrary nonplanar surface, such as a tessellated one, is challenging because the available software for printing is limited to planar slicing. The present research outlines an easy-to-use mathematical algorithm
to project a printing trajectory as a sequence of points through a vector-defined direction on any triangle-tessellated non-planar surface. The algorithm processes the ordered points of the 2D version of the printing trajectory, the tessellated STL files of the target surface, and the projection direction. It then generates the new trajectory lying on the target surface with the G-code instructions for the printer. As a proof of concept, several examples are presented, including a Hilbert curve and lattices printed on curved surfaces, using a conventional fused filament fabrication machine. The algorithm’s effectiveness is further demonstrated by translating a printing trajectory to an analytical surface. The surface is tessellated and fed to the algorithm as an input to compare the results, demonstrating that the error depends on the resolution of the tessellated surface rather than on the algorithm itself.

The contact surface description is a very important field in the numerical simulation of problems involving frictional contact, which are among the most difficult ones in continuum mechanics, as is the case of sheet metal forming simulation. In this paper, a methodology to control the Nagata patch interpolation of piecewise linear meshes is proposed, in order to improve its applicability for tool surface description used in the numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes. The interpolation can be applied either to triangular and quadrilateral Nagata patches, as well as structured and unstructured patches. The normal vectors needed for the Nagata interpolation are obtained through two distinct strategies. The first uses the information available in the CAD surface model, while the second resorts only to the piecewise linear mesh model information. In the diversely populated Swahili emporium of Zanzibar in nineteenth century East Africa, royals and notables commissioned massive, elaborately carved wooden doors to mark front entrances of grand buildings. Quite often, one architectural space functioned simultaneously as home, business, and political center. The doors that adorned and delineated those spaces stood as direct messages of power, wealth, and heritage. Ambiguity and abstraction was likely a useful tool to reach a broad audience. For example, one frequently appearing curvilinear form could be read as an abstracted fish—a symbol of wealth to an African trader—or as an abstracted pineapple, a welcome sign for an Indian merchant.

Since 1984, three stylistic categories outlined by Nancy Nooter—Indian, Arab, and African—have directed the way we frame the doors and their place in Swahili cultural contexts. However, the ornamental style that proliferates Swahili art and architecture is recognized as a composite blend and visual intermixture of representations that reflect a millennium of diverse Indian Ocean and continental trade influences. As historians, archaeologists, and linguists continue to untangle the complexities of Swahili identity, might a systematic examination of individual design details and abstracted symbols contribute to our understanding of origins and messages behind the doors? Is it useful to extract distinct elements from overall compositions? If abstracted forms represent connections to particular cultural meanings or heritage, were they read in ways that would influence transactions—visual and otherwise—between the disparate members of the audience?

Since the architectural structure was definitively separated from the building envelope, the question of the discontinuity of the façade with respect to the architecture has become a question of “skin and bones”. From cinema, to art, to architecture, body and skin reveal their ambiguous nature of deep and complex surfaces in postmodern society. If the history of architecture can be interpreted as the history of the limit of matter, which has determined the evolution of construction, the research on new materials through the manipulation of the internal structure of matter allows us to define architectural surfaces as the new phenomenological limits of the contemporary architecture, of that skin we live in with our senses, a new hybridization and osmotic crossing space between buildings and cities.

Resumo Esta pesquisa buscou criar relações socioculturais trabalhadas através da sistematização dos conhecimentos que envolvem o Design de Superfície. Por meio da pesquisa científica básica e explicativa e do método histórico foi possível encontrar no estudo da história do Design e da sociedade respostas para a questão destacada neste trabalho, "Por que no Design Contemporâneo o projeto de superfícies se encontra como um tópico em discussão?". A partir da análise das relações entre superfície e objeto foi possível identificar que o processo de alterações das superfícies já é feito há muito tempo, porém com um viés planejado foi possível somente a partir do século 19 e das revoluções ocasionadas. O Design Contemporâneo é o limiar da discussão, pois se relaciona com o momento atual de remodelação social e de práticas de projeto, das quais o redesenho da superfície se encontra em ascensão e discussão. Through the proposed methodology it was possible to find in study of history of design and society answers to the question highlighted in this work: "Why in Contemporary Design, surface design has been a topic under discussion?". From the point of view of the changes between the parts and the processes of change that can be made, it is possible that a process of transition is made to the 19th century and the revolutions caused. There is a growing need to preserve sources of energy in all sectors of industrial economy. Therefore, reducing frictional losses is seen as a crucial aim. Traditionally, lubrication has been viewed as the main driving force behind this quest. By the turn of 20th century molecular interaction of lubricants near boundary solids began to be understood as we have pointed out in the Introduction to our contribution to this Special Issue of the journal. Those early findings have gradually led to the importance of lubricant–surface combination, when viewed as a system. Progressively, much more research has been devoted to the issue of lubricant composition, particularly the design of lubricant additive packages. At the same time, the role that surface topography plays on the generation of friction has evolved from the very basic Amontons’ laws of friction of dry sliding surfaces. It has become clear that those laws do not entirely apply to the lubricated rough surfaces. In fact, it has emerged that nature itself makes use of rough surface topography for retention of a film of low shear strength fluid in many cases, including in all the mammalian endo-articular joints where relatively rough soft articular cartilage elastically deforms and causes pressure perturbations that enhance the load carrying capacity of the synovial fluid as well as reducing friction by its entrapment between its rough topography. This phenomenon was subsequently termed as micro-elastohydrodynamics. It has, therefore, become clear that rough surface topography can in fact help reduce friction, unlike the case of dry sliding contacts. This realisation, in time, has led to the introduction of engineered surfaces, either through fundamental understanding or simply through intuition. There are many underlying mechanisms for enhanced lubrication, such as pressure perturbation mentioned above, as well as micro-wedge effect, formation of micro-reservoirs of lubricants and others. As the lubricant–surface combination is progressively viewed as a system at the micrometre and nanometre interaction scales, significant advances are being made in use of surface topography, lubricant rheology and physical chemistry, tribo-chemistry, surface coatings, etc. Furthermore, the area of application of these technologies is spreading rapidly as discussed by the contributions made to this Special Issue by our learned colleagues. We are very grateful for their insights shared with the tribology community in this unique volume of work. Clearly, an important task ahead is to gain more insight into the underlying mechanisms of friction at different physical scales in order to be able to optimise the system to particular applications. This would be similar to biomimetic approach as nature itself has used with almost the same physical chemistry and surface topographical attributes in an evolutionary manner to meet the operational integrity of many natural systems.

The chilled casting method is widely used in the metal casting industry to accelerate the mold's cooling rate. This method is very suitable for surface hardening by depositing the elements contained in the chill material onto the surface of the object being cast. One of the factors that influence surface hardness characteristics is the diffusion temperature. This study aims to determine the microhardness, surface layer thickness, and the element contained on the surface. The main material produced into Y-Block is ductile cast iron, the chill material is SS 304 plate with a thickness of 0.2mm. However, before the liquid material is poured into a mold, the chill plate is inserted into the surface of the pattern in the mold, then the plate was preheated. The result showed that the highest preheating temperature has produced microstructure around the surface area namely eutectic carbide of (FeCr)7C3, and (FeCr)3C. SEM-EDX analysis shows that 7.13%Cr is contained on the coating layer at a thickness of 0.020 mm and an average hardness of 700-900 HV.

The importance of biomimetics has been known for years and designers have often looked to nature for formal solutions. The natural world contains infinite examples of how to achieve complex behaviours and applications by using simple materials in a clever way, as all organisms make use of limited raw materials to survive. In the popular imagination, the best-known example is the microscopic ‘hook’ on burrs that led to the development of Velcro, but there are many more applications, from kingfisher beaks inspiring the shape of bullet trains to shark skin being used as a model for advanced swimsuits. This book presents many examples, showing each natural phenomenon alongside its application, with an accessible explanation of the biology and the story of the design. While most are concrete examples that have already been developed, others point the way to what might be possible for an enterprising designer, providing a starting point for creativity.

O presente artigo relata uma pesquisa acerca da história do campo acadêmico do Design de Superfície no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. A abordagem metodológica é qualitativa, de caráter descritivo e interpretativo, adotando-se como procedimento a pesquisa bibliográfica. O estudo tem como objetivo identificar a trajetória acadêmica da especialidade organizada em décadas, a partir dos anos 70. As conclusões preliminares permitem inferir os resultados positivos da inserção do Design de Superfície, influenciando na solidificação da especialidade como campo de conhecimento e nas ofertas da disciplina nos cursos de Artes e Design das IES do estado em questão.

O artigo apresenta uma experiência prática em design de superfície desenvolvida no NDS UFRGS. Para tal, relacionam-se conhecimentos técnicos e teóricos na construção e descrição do desenvolvimento prático de um projeto de coleção de estampas voltadas a um sistema de customização em massa de vestidos. São apresentados os processos criativos envolvidos no projeto de estamparia e o resultado final. Discutem-se pontos de convergência e possibilidades entre design de superfície e customização de produtodos de moda.

The paper presents a practical experience in surface design developed at NDS UFRGS. For so, we relate technical and theoretical knowledge in the construction and description of the practical development of a collection of patterns aimed to attend a system of mass customized dresses. The creative processes involved in the project and the results are presented. At the end, we discuss points of convergence and possibilities between surface design and mass customization of fashion products.

Neste artigo, esperamos descrever eventos relacionados à atuação de Goya Lopes, artista e designer negra que trabalha majoritariamente com a temática afro-brasileira, como articuladora política de um projeto de moda brasileira mais diversa. Para tanto, temos como objetivo mapear e descrever experiências da sua trajetória e do seu trabalho, além de suas estratégias como membro titular do Colegiado Setorial de Moda do Ministério da Cultura do Brasil. Por procedimento metodológico, recorremos à análise de fontes heterogêneas, como entrevistas concedidas por Goya, documentos do seu acervo pessoal, textos diversos sobre a designer, site e redes sociais da empresa Goya Lopes Design Brasileiro. Como resultado, pretendemos reconstruir eventos sobre o desenvolvimento de um projeto de moda mais plural, explicitar as adesões da designer a redes de relações afro-brasileiras, além de destacar o protagonismo de Goya Lopes no design brasileiro feito por mulheres.

Resumo Este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar um levantamento de literatura da produção acadêmica que tem o design de superfície e o trabalho de mulheres como objeto de estudo. Para tanto, foi mapeada através de revisões bibliográficas assistemática e sistemática, literatura que relacionasse os temas. Estas são apresentadas e analisadas de forma comparativa. Como resultado, o artigo aponta um panorama da arte e de lacunas sobre o assunto em pesquisas nacionais. Palavras Chave: design de superfície; trabalho de mulheres; gênero.

Abstract This article aims to present a literature survey of the academic production that has the surface design and the work of women as study object. For that, it was mapped through systematic and systematic literature reviews, literature that related the themes. These are presented and analyzed in a comparative way. As a result, the article points out an overview of the art and gaps on the subject in national surveys. Keywords: surface design; work of women; gender. 1 Introdução O design neste trabalho é entendido em diálogo com Forty (2007) e Cardoso (2008), que o consideram uma atividade de criação, projeto e produção. Cardoso (2008, p.196) questiona a forma como se define quem é ou não considerado(a) designer, apresentando exemplos de trabalhos de design importantes realizados por "indivíduos extraordinários" anterior ao período de organização formal da profissão, e defende que as contribuições de vários profissionais não devem ser ignoradas por esse motivo. O autor complementa afirmando que hoje existe um "número significativo de profissionais ativos" que "permanece fora dos trâmites do ensino superior, e nem por isso são menos designers". Concordamos com Pereira (2014, p.11) que design está mais relacionado ao processo de fazer e produzir objetos, e que essa prática pode ser considerada como uma atividade realizada por sujeitos de áreas diversas, e não somente o trabalho do(a) profissional com formação específica. Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é narrar os processos de Goya Lopes e Renata Rubim se tornarem designers de superfície. Mapeamos, descrevemos e analisamos suas experiências nos baseando em falas às quais elas deram relevo. Como resultados, apresentamos modos de fazer no design de superfície, explicitamos relações de hierarquia no design e nos trabalhos realizados por mulheres, e refletimos sobre a participação das mulheres na história do design brasileiro. Abstract: The objective of this article is to narrate the processes of Goya Lopes and Renata Rubim to become surface designers. We map, describe and analyze their experiences based on statements they have highlighted. As results, we present ways of doing surface design, explain hierarchical relationships in design and in the work done by women, and reflect on the participation of women in Brazilian design history.

Thanks to rampant advances in the field of Materials Science and Technology, the surface, as object of investigation and project, is no longer suffering the hierarchical dialectic between structure and ornament, emancipating Architecture and Design from the respective roles and constraints and defining new languages that, whatever the process and technology adopted, aim to treat the surfaces as places that generate and hold experience.

The invention consists of three parts made to work together to ensure safe, fast and effective deployment to the end users, which include but are not limited to surgeons and doctors in emergency and operating rooms, occupational hazards equipment goggles, visors and shields, defensive protective armors and high impact vision wear, high performance athletic equipment, and avionics surfaces. The three parts are the anti-fog coating materials composition, their methods of preparation and processing in large, medium or small scale manufacturing, and a single unit delivery device with the coating materials to apply on any existing surface, lens, scope, tools or dials, as a wet or quickly drying coating.
