The highly nonuniform transient power densities in modern semiconductor devices present difficult performance and reliability challenges for circuit components, multiple levels of interconnections and packaging, and adversely impact overall power efficiencies. Runtime temperature calculations would be beneficial to architectures with dynamic thermal management, which control hotspots by effectively optimizing regional power densities. Unfortunately, existing algorithms remain computationally prohibitive for integration within such systems. This work addresses these shortcomings by formulating an efficient method for fast calculations of temperature response in semiconductor devices under a time-dependent dissipation power. The main objective of image enhancement is to improve some characteristic of an image to make it visually better one. This paper proposes a method for enhancing the color images based on nonlinear transfer function and pixel neighborhood by preserving details. In the proposed method, the image enhancement is applied only on the V (luminance value) component of the HSV color image and H and S component are kept unchanged to prevent the degradation of color balance between HSV components. The V channel is enhanced in two steps. First the V component image is divided into smaller overlapping blocks and for each pixel inside the block the luminance enhancement is carried out using nonlinear transfer function. In the second step, each pixel is further enhanced for the adjustment of the image contrast depending upon the center pixel value and its neighborhood pixel values. Finally, original H and S component image and enhanced V component image are converted back to RGB image. The subjective and objective performance evaluation shows that the proposed enhancement method yields better results without changing image original color in comparison with the conventional methods.

Any band-pass filter may be converted into a tunable filter with a single tuning parameter through the use of a new tunable heterodyne band-pass filter concept in which the frequency of the heterodyne signal is adjusted thereby translating the entire filter transfer function in frequency. If the fixed filter is selected to be a narrow-band band-pass filter, the new tunable heterodyne band-pass filter concept can be used very effectively in the elimination of narrow band interference in wide-band communications or control systems. A single-chip version of this tunable filter can be constructed using a Xilinx Virtex XCV800 chip. The resulting filter is a flexible tunable band-pass filter that can be varied from DC to π/2 or from π/2 to it depending on the parameters of the fixed output low-pass filter

In this paper we present a modeling and design for robust speed control of an elevator door using ILQ design method with frequency-shaping. We have applied the design results to actual equipment, and performed experiments. By proper shaping of the frequency response of the closed loop transfer function from noise to output, an unnecessary vibration of speed generated by uncertainty was confirmed to be suppressed. As a result, the proposed method has been verified to show robustness against the change of weight of door panels

I selected AK Jairath textbook because it goes back to 1992, when this engineer first
published this book. 2nd edition in 1994, and reprinted in 1996.

Solutions & Problems in Control System. May not be in circulation now. Its a small
book. Concise similar to Schaums (Supplementary), its not a main textbook. Chapter
1 is Transfer Functions. All the problems in chapter 1 are are made up of R L C
components. So this was in line with my/our starting plan to stay within the electric
circuits corridor. First keep things simple. So if you asked why, that's the reason I
selected this chapter. We did some theory-examples in transfer function at end of
Part B, so its best to do them first since these are fresh in minds. This is part of Part 3C which here can be independent.

Got an oppurtunity to work with RLC components in the transfer function and
secondly control systems context, why waste it. So I did these few example problems.

AK Jairath: The transfer function of a system is the ratio of Laplace transforms of
the output and input quantities, initial conditions being zero. When a physical system
is analysed, a mathematical model is prepared by writing differential equations with
the help of various laws. An equation describing a physical system has integrals and
differentials. The response can be obtained by solving such equations.

This paper presents the design, simulation and real-time implementation of an aircraft longitudinal control system using a test platform constituted of a dedicated microprocessor and the X-Plane flight simulator. Initially, the concepts of longitudinal motion of a rigid body are studied. The dynamic equations of aircraft were determined using the aerodynamic stability coefficients and the longitudinal derivates. With the aircraft dynamic equation, the altitude and vertical speed continuous controllers were designed using the inner loop pitch attitude and pitch rate feedback and the forward speed controller was designed using an engine throttle model. The continuous controllers designed were discretized. Then, the digital controllers were implemented in the microprocessor. Using the X-Plane flight simulator and the algorithm implemented in the dedicated microprocessor, the digital controllers were tested and validated into the model similar to real aircraft, minimizing risks and increasing flexibility for design changes. Basically, this experimental framework employs the microprocessor running the digital flight controllers to be tested, and a PC running the X-Plane flight simulator contained the aircraft to be commanded. These resources are interconnected through data buses in order to exchange information. The interconnection between autopilot hardware and the X-Plane host is made through data communication bus based on network protocol, Uniform Datagram Protocol (UDP) available in both systems. The X-Plane has the built-in capability of transmitting flight parameters and receiving command for aircraft flight control surfaces over Ethernet using UDP. The results show that the developed system structure is appropriate to test the longitudinal controllers. Matlab environment was used to visualize the values of the updates pitch attitude, altitude, vertical and forward speed in graphics plotted in real time. It permites to observe that the designed controllers impleme- - nted in experimental framework reaches the specified requirements successfully.
