No! It's a far-too-dangerous incredible adventure for you! That's final.

@Roach

I was! Point to the part where I was incorrect...

You’re correct that they eventually put that info up, but my point was it wasn’t posted yet so no one could reference it at the time I made my comment. Thus you can’t correct what wasn’t incorrect due to absence of availability 😊

The price for the consoles and accessories are listed on Nintendo's website.

They weren’t yet at the time I was posting this. They hadn’t put the page up yet. They did about half an hour later.

I can't bypass the opportunity to correct the BMO lmao.

But you’d have to be correct in order to do that 😜

Unfortunately no way on the Australian version of the Nintendo website to register, but I'm on the mailing list of my local store who'll let me know when pre-orders go live!

It feels like Australia regularly gets shafted.

Thanks for the tip, added myself to the registry. Don't think I've ever bought a console on launch day before, but I'm hoping against hope that early Switch 2s end up being mod-able like early Switch 1s were.

I registered because they just extend you an invite to order later down the road. I could always turn it down. We’ll see as we get closer. It’s $699 in Canada which isn’t cheap. It’s in SteamDeck pricing territory.

I'm more annoyed with them charging more than an extra $100 for the international version over the Jap version.

That’s because there are two versions of the Switch 2 being released in Japan, a multilingual version and a Japan only region locked version:

The ‘Domestic Only’ console will retail for a cheaper price (49,980 yen, or $334) and will only have Japanese as the console’s language setting, and the only Nintendo account that can be linked will be one created with the country/region setting set to Japan.

A more expensive Switch 2 model with multilingual support, priced at 69,980 yen ($467), will be available to purchase only from the Japanese My Nintendo Store.

So yes, the international version is more expensive than the region locked version, but unless you’re ok with a region locked version in Japanese only, the pricing remains comparable.

I Found solid details on game prices at Gamereactor:

Mario Kart World will cost €79.99 digitally and €89.99 physically

Donkey Kong Bananza will cost €69.99 digitally and €79.99 digitally

Nintendo Everywhere? Or just in some specific locations?

This I don’t know. You’d have to check your regional Nintendo site. They need to operate an online store for hardware and physical goods in your region.

You can register to buy one from Nintendo directly today. The registration is already open. They’ll put you on a list and invite you to buy one when your name comes up in order, similar to how Valve did the Steam Deck launch registration.

Or you can wait for retailers to put preorders up, but those will probably quickly go to scalpers.

Although we don’t have a standalone price on games yet, Mario Kart World is €40 as bundled with the system (€469 console, €509 console and game bundle). It seems unlikely that, even if the solo price is higher, it will be an extra €50 premium. I suspect we are not looking at €90 as the base game cost for Switch 2.

silksong2025!!!!

So, the world IS ending? 😅

Naw, it was always coming as Team Cherry’s head of PR explained every year for the last few years, but gamers just tend to be rabid and unreasonable and would rather make stuff up based on conspiracy theories than just wait for a game to actually launch in due time.

Bloodborne 2 looks cool! Trailer description says it's multiplayer-focused unfortunately, but I'm still on board.

Hopefully it’s also possible to solo. I’m on board regardless as well.

I'm pretty sure the trailer for the Switch 2 hardware tour "game" said it isn't free, which is wild to me. After Aperture Desk Job and Astro's Playroom I can't imagine having to pay just to have it tell me about hardware capabilities. I hope I misread.

You did not misread.

Kotaku says $450 USD. Like I got the money but thats a hundo more than I'd like to spend

$449.99 and ¥49,980.

But that's before the tariffs.

The Switch 2 won’t be hit with Tariffs because Nintendo already moved manufacturing to supply NA out of China during the last Trump administration. If Trump placed a tariff on goods from Vietnam there would be a problem but that has yet to happen.

Yeah that has me very worried, lol. I guess they don't need to worry about regional pricing differences if it's not in the direct but it's not a comforting sign.

They didn’t want to end on bad news. I think we are looking at $499 USD, especially with a 1080p 120Hz HDR panel.

Edit: apparently they did announce the price according to outlets like Polygon (it wasn’t in the steam I watched but that was plagued with glitches) and it’s $449 USD, so I was close because the bundle with Mario Kart World is $499 USD.

Edit: ok I rewatched the ending of the direct, there was no price announcement so I don’t know what Polygon is smoking. I believe the price, it just wasn’t in the direct.

Nintendo pulling a page from Sony’s playbook and securing an exclusive From game is wild.

I wonder how much more they're gonna charge for the Switch 2 editions of these Switch games. Will they be discounted for owners of the base games? If I have to buy all these games again I think that really sucks!

They will be releasing them standalone and also sell an upgrade pack.

. You would need to be someone who both accepts transgender people's right to identify as they desire but who also acknowledges other people's right not play along with that gender identity if that's not something they believe is true.

You won’t find that’s likely because if a person supports trans rights, a basic fundamental human right, they are not also going to support the disavowal of those rights. Since the latter is inherently in oppositions and denial of the former, you’re not going to find anyone who is willing to support both a fundamental right and support people trying to deny that right. They simply not two views a person can hold, because the second view, that trans identities are not real, wholly negates the first view. I know it’s fun to pretend there are two sides to everything but in this case there aren’t because one either believes trans people have a right to their identity, or one believes they do not. It’s impossible to both believe they do and they do not, because that’s a fundamental contradiction.

I’m closing this thread because transphobic statements are against the Grouvee ToS and this discussion is not moving in a productive direction.

Ah I just looked it up and they stopped first party Nintendo titles from being sold digitally by third party retailers in Europe. Not sure about elsewhere in the world. That's probably where I got it from, I didn't realise third party were still being sold in Europe!

Yeah, I can still buy them at BestBuy, Humble, etc..

Haven't sony and Nintendo stopped the distribution of digital downloads to third party marketplaces?

Sony did, Nintendo didn’t. You can buy Nintendo games from third party stores, but I don’t know if that covers all eshop titles or just some, but it does cover a lot of mainstream first party Nintendo titles.

While I know physical games are in decline, I didn’t know that between 2021 and 2024 physical game sales dropped by more than half. That’s a rapid decline, and when compared to data as far back as 2008 it’s clear that we might be seeing the end of physical media as something other than a very niche collector’s item soon, something we’ve seen physical media increasingly move toward over the last decade:

The rate of decline in US physical video game software spending accelerated in 2024.

Spending on physical video game software in the US has been cut in more than half since 2021 and is now more than 85% below its 2008 peak.

Some people are idiots.

It’s probably the best sign we have that MS is doing a good job conceptually shifting Xbox from being hardware to being a platform, because the people that probably used to be console warriors are now GamePass warriors, lol.
