Happened in Pennsylvania on December, 14 1777 George Washington was the general of the continental with another successful win from Saratoga. Baron Von Steuben was Prussian officer with a lot of battlefield experience, but got recommended to George Washington from Benjamin Franklin. He fought in the continental army and one month later Baron Von Steuben trained the continental army and impressed George Washington so George gave him the rank of major general. The weather was very cold and snowy at Valley Forge and only food there was to eat was fire cake only made of flour and water so a lot of George Washingtons army were dying because of starving or freezing to death so they had less people to fight. The time was significant for the continental army because 2,500 people died because of exposure, malnutrition, and disease.
