Description:
A fun and educational game that reinforces the two major shva rules: the loud
shva at the beginning of the word and the quiet shva in the middle of the word,
while at the same time practicing their fluency in kriyah since each time a word is
called out, they will have to read all sixteen words to find the correct one.
Includes variations of the Bingo board and a list of the words.
Goals/Objectives:
Students will reinforce the basic rules of shva na and nach and will practice
Hebrew reading as well by playing the game.
Instructions:
1. Photocopy the Bingo stencils onto cardstock and cut to size, each child
should receive a different card.
2. Teacher should call out one word at a time (from list provided) and give
the children enough time to read through all sixteen words and see if they
have that word.
3. Once they have found the word, they color it in.
4. Children should shout BINGO when they have finished coloring a whole
line, and then when they have finished coloring the whole card.
Variations:
BINGO cards can be laminated and used several times. Children should
then cover the words with plastic pieces instead of coloring in.
The game can be played over several lessons - using the last ten minutes
of each lesson. This was a good incentive for the children during the
lesson as well.
