Thank you for your excellent turnout to the Parent-Teacher-Child conferences last week. Children now have some specific goals to work on in their learning over the coming months and, hopefully, you will be able to support them in achieving these.
Today, we have had representatives from the Kerikeri Rotary Club give out personalised dictionaries to each of our Year 4 students. These are beautiful books and, I am sure, will be a tremendous resource for the children in their learning. I want to express sincere thanks to Rotary on behalf of all the Year 4 children and their families.
I will be away for much of next week, including attending the combined NZEI Rural Principals / Tai Tokerau Principals Conference at Waitangi from Wednesday to Friday. On Thursday afternoon, a group of principals from the conference will be visiting Riverview School to look through our new classroom block and see what we are doing with our BYOD pilot.
I have been observing the traffic flows after school at the hall roundabout and believe there is a simple solution to improving the situation. The VERY BUSY time is just before 3pm, as school is first getting out. If a good proportion of families came just a little later (around 3:05pm), there would be much less congestion, and picking up your child would be simpler and quicker. Those who currently do this are probably wishing that I didnt let this secret out of the bag! I particularly encourage those of you with older children to come later. They are cared for by a teacher up until 3:15pm and it doesnt hurt them to wait for 10 minutes.
The Board of Trustees will be holding its meeting on Monday evening in the staffroom starting at 6:30pm. For the Children

You can do your bit and help bring some colour back to the school. Doing some DIY any time soon? Head down to you nearest Dulux paint retailer, purchase Dulux paint and make sure you retain the receipt so that it can be passed on to the school of your choice.
