Tattoo designs hold meanings and memories

Ana Escobedo, Senior

Extraordinary tattoos
have made their way to the
high school. All showed
off by playful styles, each
student brings a new personal twist to their ink.
Jacob Gomez, sr., walks
the halls with a half sleeve
memorial tattoo on his
right arm.
On it is a chapter ring
clock with the time of his
grandmothers
passing.
The notes surrounding the
clock describes his love
for music and the stars on
the clock are similar to the
stars that were on the watch
his grandmother wore.
Gomez recently got a
Sparrow below his left ear.
The bird represents life.
He plans on adding
more to his half sleeve.
With my clock tattoo,
I feel like Ill always have

a part of my grandma with

me, said Gomez.
For her 18th birthday,
Destiny Washee, sr., got a
tattoo reminding her of her
daughter.
Washee placed a lion
with flowers on her right
shoulder.
The lion symbolizes her
daughter.
Im glad my parents
supported my tattoo. I plan
on getting a half sleeve in
the future, said Washee.
Losing her mother at a
young age, Madison Martinez, jr., keeps her memory
with a tattoo on her ribs.
If youre going to get
a tattoo, get something that
has deep meaning, said
Martinez.
In remembrance of her
mother, Martinez has a tattoo of her mothers name,
her birthdate, death date,

and a quote saying She

lived + laughed + loved +
left.
With a love for tattoo
ink, Enrique Pina, sr., re-

members his grandmother

with a cross that has tribal
print wrapped around it.
Pina got the tattoo on
his left shoulder blade,

right after his grandmothers passing.

A tattoo is permanent.
I couldnt have picked a
more permanent symbol to
remember my grandma,
said Pina.
The senior recently got
a new tattoo of a pocket
watch, along with a rose on
his left arm.
The tattoo is in resemblance to his mother. The
watch has the time of his
mothers birth and her love
for roses.
Luis Hernandez, sr.,
has a tattoo of a rosary and
two roses. The rosary symbolizes he is Catholic and
each rose symbolizes his
parents.
Hernandez placed the
tattoo on his rib cage.
Wanting others to know
the seriousness about tat-

toos, Hernandez said, Get

something that you wont
regret.
Catching an interest in
tattoos early, Tayler Terry,
sr., couldnt wait to turn 18
to get one.
Terry has a mandala
flower on her right shoulder.
The flower symbolizes
self unity and peace. Terry
choose the flower to symbolize her overcoming of
past insecurities.
Dont let anyone persuade you into changing
your mind. Get the tattoo,
said Terry.
Tattoos arent just for
individual purposes, however. At the age of 18 Mr.
Dylan Jackson got a tattoo
because he is diabetic.
Instead of wearing a
bracelet, he has the tattoo.
