HEALTH NEWS
HEARING AND VISION TESTING On Monday 24th March, Hearing and Vision testing will be here at school. If you have any concerns about your childs hearing or vision and would like them to be tested, please contact the school office before 9.00am on Monday morning. DENTAL THERAPISTS The dental therapists will be at school for the next three weeks. They will be seeing every child at school. If you have any concerns about your childs teeth please call into their van and talk to them. HEAD LICE We have recently seen an increase in head lice at school. This is an ongoing problem and needs everyone to be very vigilant in checking their childs hair on a regular basis and treating it if required. Some tips for the prevention of head lice are: Avoid head to head contact. Don't share brushes, combs, hats and other items that come into contact with hair. Discourage children from playing with each others' hair. Tie long hair back or plait it. BRUSH HAIR REGULARLY. Check the hair of everyone in the family at least once a week.

INFLUENZA VACCINATION Seasonal Influenza vaccination is again being offered free for all people aged 6 months to under the age of 18 years in Canterbury. The vaccine helps protect against influenza which is a serious disease that spreads rapidly in the school environment, to homes and the wider community. The only effective way for people to protect themselves is to get vaccinated. Vaccination is available through your general practice team. Be flu strong this winter.

WAVERIDER DAY SPENCER PARK What a wonderful day we had at Spencer Park on Friday. The weather definitely came to the party and it was great to see many parents out with us enjoying the day. Well done to those who rode their bikes to Spencer Park and back to school. It was great fun and was good to see so many of you enjoying being out on your bikes. A big thankyou to the PTA, for funding the buses and the sausage sizzle, and to Amy, Eric and Jody for cooking the BBQ.

PARKING AT THE SCHOOL GATE

We have noticed over the past few weeks cars are double parking, parking over driveways and parking illegally. Whilst it is very tempting to do this, especially when the weather is cold and wet, it puts all our students at risk from being hit by cars. Please respect all people around the school and park legally and considerately. The Police have indicated they intend to enforce road rules and we expect they will be monitoring this over the following weeks.
