MURO is
the word for the Mobile Museum of Education in Peru. Conceived as a mobile
museum, it consists of documentation and objects representing school life.
MURO aims
to rescue and preserve the historical memory of school through objects that reflect different aspects of its reality: academic, social
material, and simbolic, Each object, according to the role that was socially assigned at a given time - shows a particular context, a way of understanding life and chilhood
Through this artistic proposal it is confirmed that school education is a historical process. MURO propose a participatory approach constantly in
movement and constant evolution. Therefore, it is essential for this project create spaces for reflection and memory, as well as debate and public
participation about school education .
History and reference of the collecttion
MUROS is distinguished by a collecttion of objects and furniture typical of education in Peru, from 1950-1960 to 1990-2000. The collection have
school supplies, books of literature, textbooks and encyclopedias that belongs to a traditional educational approach, which lost strength approximately the late century. However, many of these materials are still used mainly in public schools which means that traditional education is
alive in school.
How is it distributed?
MURO Mobile Museum has two sections: Teaching - Learning and Discipline at school, that were build based in the following questions: What
things and objects remain the discipline today? How was discipline before? How should be tackle the school discipline today?, How was the
learning and teaching before? What things remain the same and what has changed in education ?, What needs to be change in education today?
MURO is looking to be in constant movement collecting experiences, anecdotes and testimonies of different audiences. Throughout its tour in
different cultural places and interventions in public spaces, MURO will pose different questions according to the context in which it is lodged. The
public are the one who will rebuild the collective memory of school, to raise awareness of the changes that our educational system needs and to
continue contributing to the history of education in Peru.

Utopia, is a book-object with visual material collected in Paris 2014. This is part of a research about the access of art among the citizens, based on
questioning the role that art has in education and society. The project parts on the premise that the schools in France are the basis of quality and that the
public education system provides equal opportunities for access to culture.
This analysis and reflection is a graphic record of the recognition of a new territory (while still looking at oneself ) and marks the journeys made on the
location of the schools in the center of Paris and its suburbs, accompanied by notes on the art education system in France.

During the 90s in Peru, a major change within the educational reform system left out Art Education, prioritizing
cognitive areas within the schools. This educational reform primarily affected the public schools, which are still
going through a quality crisis, due to the fact that students are not achieving their expected learning capacity. In Peru, the
students whom attend public schools are often among the poorest. Because of this, most students within the public school
system have little to no probability at receiving a substantial Art education as part of their regular curriculum. Another
factor preventing the promotion of art education within the schools is the lack of materials, along with an absence of
qualified teachers and available artist wiling to collaborate and work with the students in the development of their artistic abilities.
This project is a journey through the history of art education since the 70s, based on testimonies, objects, interviews
and textbooks. The analyses of these inputs are utilized as part of an investigation about the methods of learning art
within the schools and, furthermore, a deeper understanding of the social assessment among the currently existing art.
The intervention took place on the cliff, the fish market, the dock
and the sea, all within the district of Chorrillos. Currently, the cliff, a
popular destination within the public beach area, is being privatized.
This project is based on the investigation of the importance of arts in education, arguing the obsolete relevance of the relationship between these
two fields: art and education.
The project offers a journey: Four wooden drawers built into the walls of the gallery bounce different types of content through a mechanism. The
first shows a video of the project process; the second, phrases cut into strips that connect the concepts of art and society; the third, images of
facades of galleries, cultural centers and museums in Lima; and the fourth, a format that relate the texts with images that the spectator may chose.
The objective is to generate documents that reflect the relationship that people make between art, society and cultural institutions.
The mechanism of the machine is activated by a handle, inserted in the top drawer, and can only achieve its goal using the viewer.

This project is the installation of a museum laboratory, and refers to the cabinets as curiosities, ancestors of todays museums, which retained unusual
objects and findings of new research. The installation uses the footage stockpiled in the process of my thesis research conducted in 2012 that studied
the perception of contemporary art in Lima. The purpose of this research was to analyse and question the role of institutions such as museums,
galleries, schools, education and training people on issues related to art and culture.
For the museum - laboratory I rated files and items collected during the process of my thesis research. Codes were generated to
organize these items into different categories: pictures of objects and possible laboratories, galleries facades in Lima, theoretical
research, blog notes, mapping spaces for contemporary art in Lima, recorded videos exhibition of openings to analyse the observer looking at
a work of art, videos recording the work process; and finally, the cataloguing of special objects as possible elements to be used at a later date.
Synopsis
In the last ten years Peru invest in public education less than 3% of GDP, that is, as much as
Angola, one of the poorest countries of Africa. In despite that Peru become one of the best performing
economies in latinoamerica. This documentary is about the education investment in Peru in recent
years and the inadequate attention that the government pay to education. Peru lacks in quality
education and ranks last among other countries around the globe. The drawings represents
different scenarios of the education system and argue about the meaning of INVESTMENT.
