Last companions to pass away

Question

Is it true that Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) was the companion who passed
away the last?

‫بسم هللا الرمحن الرحمی‬

Answer

This is not true. Anas ibn Mālik  (d. 93/711-2) was the final companion to pass away in
Basra. The companion to pass away the last in general was Abū al-Ṭufayl ʿĀmir ibn Wāthilah
 (d. 110/728-9) (refer to this link for more details). The last female companion to pass away
was Umm Khālid bint Khālid ibn Saʿīd ibn al-ʿĀṣ ibn Umayyah ibn ʿAbd Shams  (n.d) (refer
to this link for more details).

The following table provides more information regarding the companions who passed away
last in their regions as well as some other categories. The information is based on the
preferred or dominant view of scholars. The age of some companions has been calculated.
