Inspiring this JEN-eration’s Leaders and Educators

Not all gods and goddesses are found in the Olympus skies. Some are on the streets,
doling out their fortune to those in need. Some are in their homes, establishing good relationships
within the family, while some are in schools, inspiring a new breed of educators who shape the
youth’s future.

Teachers in Lara Integrated School (LIS) testified the truth about the presence of a goddess
in their institution, their school head, Mrs. Jennifer S. Lumanug. Being the school’s leader for three
years, LIS has been bagging abundant recognitions not only in the Division Level but also in the
Regional level.

Courage, intellect, and leadership skills--- these three main ingredients exemplified by Mrs.
Lumanug made the school stand by its name “Lara”, which is described as “maparas” in
Kapampangan. These three key points will be vividly discussed below.

COURAGE: She awakened her inner Athena. Mrs. Lumanug is a warrior in terms of
strengthening the quality of education in the school. The number of enrolees increases annually.
This year, there are 655 enrolees compared to 634 enrolees during the academic year 2017-2018.
Consistently, LIS has not been producing any dropout, along with the 100% completion rate since
her term. These figures apparently portray the dedication of the school in uplifting quality
education. Furthermore, the School Achievement Test (SAT) drastically accelerated from 66.36 %
to 74.09% in the Elementary and 67.48% to 75.20% in Junior High School. The joint efforts of the
school head and the teachers created an impact in the school’s SAT percentage. Also, the number
of Frustration readers dropped from 22 to 8 students in English while in Filipino, the 12 Frustration
readers during the 1st quarter decreased into 5. The school also reported a high percentage of
numerates for this academic year. The remedial sessions and interventions conducted within the
school year proved to be potent because of the results.

INTELLECT: She channelled Odysseus inside. Because of her brilliance and

resourcefulness, Mrs. Lumanug exerted her full goddess power to make the school ICT-
empowered. Her unstoppable determination made the teachers enjoy and harness the
convenience and usefulness of the TVs, projectors, and speakers to make the teaching-learning
process more operative. All 16 classrooms in LIS are equipped with the aforementioned ICT tools
to make sure that the school is 21st Century-ready and to give the quality education that the
students deserve. Also, Mrs. Lumanug’s ingenuity was proved when the school was awarded as
one of the Outstanding Schools for Sustainable Development and Eco-friendly School. Along with
this, LIS is also a finalist in the Healthy School Category in the Division of San Fernando. Mrs.
Lumanug’s constant monitoring in the school reaped its fruits. Her partnership with the Department
of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Fashion Interiors Manufacturing, Inc. has been
helping the school in its Feeding Program for 7 years now, which caters 50 to 75 students who
belong to the marginal level in our society. Networking with the government and other
organizations indeed aided the school in many facets.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS: She summoned the Muses alive. Being an exemplar of excellence
among the teachers in LIS, most of them were inspired to reach the summit of success through
promotions and recognitions. This academic year, 4 teachers were promoted from TI to TII, 1 was
promoted from TI to TIII, and the school’s MTI was promoted to MTII. Mr. Joel P. Mallari, the
former Head Teacher III of LIS now occupies one of the thrones in the Olympus, is now the OIC-
EPS in MTB and MLE. The school’s goddess, Mrs. Lumanug, was promoted from OIC to Principal
I. This overwhelming fact says a lot on how competent teachers in this school are. LIS also boasts
its 7 teachers who received the Teacher Superhero Award for this academic year alone. This is
the highest number of teacher superheroes the school has received since its birth. Also, the
school garnered multiple awards during the Gawad Parangal 2019, where they were recognized
for their exemplary performances as demonstration teachers and dance interpreters and for their
winnings during the National Literature Month. Mrs. Lumanug herself was also awarded for being
one of the authors in a research paper presented in the Regional Level. Furthermore, the student-
journalists of LIS received awards during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC). The
school’s feature writer in the Elementary Level won 1st place, and that made her compete in the
Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC). The school aims to produce more proficient
journalists every year.

With Mrs. Lumanug’s prowess, surely, the universe will conspire in her favor.
