Removal of the illegal parked vehicles because some of those are not even
working, they just put in the area obstructing the Muelle De La Quinta and occupying
almost half of the road.
Extension of the side walk because the Muelle De La Quinta is just a one-way
street and going to Carlos Palanca.
Adding some vegetation/planters to the barrier and providing benches so that the
street will be a pedestrian friendly and the residents will not be placing vehicles in the
area.
Synthesis.
The following is the problem in the Carlos Palanca and Muelle De La Quinta
combined and how it is going to be solved.
1. Heat
Everyone is experiencing heat. So, by creating a design solution that reduces the
heat gain in the area. By putting needed shading devices and vegetation in a certain
area like waiting sheds and plant boxes in any area that is experiencing excessive heat. Fig. 18. Photo

Design Concept.
Renascence
Carlos Palanca Street, known for Manila's trading haven because of a lot of commercial
buildings in the area. Having its current state which is problematic because of some change
through time and the changes in the area is quite obvious. The chosen concept is
RENASCENCE. A rebirth or a revival of something that has been dormant. The idea of the
Renascence is to give the users reminiscing experience of the area in a new way by proposing
a biophilic design. The design will connect to the people to the community. The focus of this
project is on the redevelopment of the Carlos Palanca and Muelle De La Quinta and
transforming it into a new sustainable design without touching any existing greeneries.

Considerations.
Aesthetic
Transforming the Carlos Palanca into a beautiful place which satisfies the users.
Sustainability
Making the area green area and using low cost sustainable material.
Accessibility
Proper implementation and compliance to the BP 344. Designation of ramps to the
area that needs ramp.
Cost
Using alternative sustainable materials for streets
