B. Presentation
Animals are classified into two big groups. They are
Invertebrates and Vertebrates.
Invertebrates are animals without backbones.

These animals are all classified as Vertebrates.

Vertebrates are animals that have backbones or
spinal cord.
There are five groups of vertebrates.
So in the pictures, what have you observed in the They are all kinds of fish

Where do fishes live? In the water
Gold fish, shark and milkfish belong to the group of

fish. Fish are the largest group of vertebrates. They
have gills in order to breathe oxygen in water. They
reproduce by laying eggs. They are cold-blooded
animals, meaning their body temperature adapts to
the temperature of their habitat.

Frogs and salamanders belong to the group of

amphibians. Amphibians can live on land and in
water. They can take oxygen in two ways: either

Crocodile, snakes, and turtles belong to the group of

reptiles. Reptiles are covered with scales and hard
bony plates. Their skin is dry and cool. They are also
cold-blooded animals like the fish and amphibians.
Reptiles move at various speeds they live in hot, dry
and warm, wet tropical forests.

Chicken, ostrich and duck belong to the group of

birds. Birds are warm-blooded animals meaning
their body temperature does not change in any kind
of weather. All birds have a pair of wings but some
cannot fly and they also have two legs for walking.

Dogs, kangaroo and duck-billed platypus belong to

the group of mammals. Mammals are the most
highly developed among the group of vertebrates.
They are covered with hair and fur. They have
mammary gland that secretes milk and are also
warm-blooded animals.
Mammals are grouped into three groups according

to the way in which individuals develop the fertilized
eggs:
1. Placentals: the embryo receives nutrients snd
oxygen from the mother’s body through an
organ called placenta.
2. Marsupials: they have pouches where their
young complete their development
3. Monotremes: egg-laying mammals.
