To the Learner
Hello! My dear learner, its nice to be with you again. Let’s have
fun in solving the problem in measuring the body and the weather
temperature. Hope by this time you are already skillful in computing
the body of weather temperature.
Temperature
Places/City May 17 May 29
Malita 15˚c 17˚c
Baguio City 24˚c 26˚c
Davao City 20˚c 22˚c
- 63 -
1. ON may 17 which city had the lowest temperature?
2. On may 29, which city had the highest temperature?
3. What was the different between the temperature of Davao city and
Baguio on May 17?
4. Which city had the highest temperature on the two dates?
- 64 -
On December 31, the temperature was 12˚c but on January 10, it
went down to a degree below zero. This is usually written “-9˚c”. The
minus sign means that the temperature is below zero and it is too
cold. From 12˚c to 0˚c thus are 12 spaces which means 12 degree, then
from 0˚c to -9˚c there are 9 degrees. This shows a total of 12 + 9 or 21
degrees. That is, the temperature on January 10 was 21 degrees lower
than the temperature on December 31.
In answering the problem in temperature, always remember the steps:
What is ask, given, word clue, operation used, and a picture or
illustration to represent the word problem.
1.) Benjie had a headache, so he went to the clinic. The nurse got
his temperature. It was 2˚c above 37˚c. was he sick? What was
his new body temperature?
1. What is asked?
2. What are given?
3. What is the word clue?
4. What operation should be used?
5. Draw a picture to represent the word problem.
6. Change the word problem into a number sentence?
7. Write the solution?
8. Write the complete answer?

Let’s Do More
- 66 -
In solving the problem in temperature, you may add or subtract to
get the exact answer.
To change or convert 0˚C to ˚F:
Given degrees Celsius multiplied by 1.8, constants add 32 and that is
constant = _________ ˚F
Ex.: Celsius change to Fahrenheit
37˚c x 1.8 + 32 = 98.6˚F

4. If the temperature at six o’clock in the morning is 26.5˚C and
31˚C at noon, by how many degrees has it risen?
5. One day in Baguio city the temperature reading in the morning
was 25.6˚C. In the afternoon it was 22.8˚C. What was the change
in temperature? Did it become warmer or cooler?
Convert the following to Fahrenheit:
6. 92˚C = _________ ˚F
7. 38˚C = _________ ˚F
8. 40˚C = _________ ˚F
Convert the figure below to Celsius:
9. 212˚F = ________ ˚C
10. 150˚F = _______ ˚C
