ECE 233 Syllabus

This document summarizes an ECE233 digital logic design lab course. The course aims to help students apply boolean algebra to minimize logic circuits, analyze digital circuit performance, and develop combinational and sequential logic circuits using gates. The lab includes experiments on boolean expressions, combinational logic circuits like adders and decoders, sequential logic like flip-flops and counters, and design projects like calculators and counters. Reference texts include books on digital integrated electronics, digital circuits and design, and digital electronics lab manuals.

ECE233:DIGITAL LOGIC DESIGN LAB

L:0 T:0 P:3 Credits:2

Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

CO1 :: apply the boolean algebra to minimise the logic ciircuits.

CO2 :: analyze the digital circuit parameters and compare its theoretical performance to actual
performance.

CO3 :: assess the functionality of the digital trainer kit to verify basic logic truth table.

CO4 :: develop various combinational and sequential logic circuits using logic gates.

List of Practicals / Experiments:

Introduction to Digital Electronics

• Analysis and Synthesis of Boolean Expressions using Basic Logic Gates. Understanding the
combinational logic by implementing the Boolean functions using AND, OR and NOT gates.
Combinational Logic Circuits
• Design of full adder/full subtractor using basic gates by displaying output on 7-segment display

• Implementation of 3-variable function using Multiplexer

• Implementation of 3-variable function using decoder

Sequential Logic Circuits

• Designing of flipflops using basic gates

• Design and implement of 3-bit counter and display the output in the 7-segment display

Project implementation
• Hamming code generation, error detection and correction using flipflops and basic gates.

• Design a digital calculator which can implement addition and multiplication functions, and display
output in 7-segment display unit.
• Design a digital calculator which can implement subtraction and division functions, and display output
in 7-segment display unit
• Design a universal counter which can perform different shift operations using multiplexer.

• Design a up and down fading lights (different colored LEDs) with specified delays using
flipflops/counters
