Section 3: Hazard Identification.

Route of entry : Skin, eyes, mouth, nose.

Product dust can cause irritation to the eyes and respiratory tract. Swallowing powder
may cause burns to the gastrointestinal tract. Sulphur oxides may be released in fire.
Contact with skin may cause slight irritation.
Section 4: First Aid Measures
In accordance with good industrial practice, handle with care and avoid unnecessary
personal contact.
Eye : Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes, occasionally lifting
the upper and the lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin : Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while
removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid.
Ingestion : If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid.

Inhalation : Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.

Notes to Physician : Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Wear sealed chemical suit (Viton, Butyl rubber), suitable gloves, boots.

General Information : Use proper personal equipment as indicated in section 8

Spills/ Leaks: Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. dry sand or earth )
then place into a chemical waste container.

Section 7: Handling and Storage


In accordance with good industrial practice, handle with care and avoid unnecessary
personal contact.
Handling: Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only in a well ventilated area.
Avoid breathing vapour or gas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Use goggles, mask rubber and plastic gloves.
Use personal respiratory protective equipments to avoid inhalation.

Storage : Store in a cool, dry place. Store in a tightly closed container, away from
heat or open flame, oxidants and strong bases. Ground all equipments containing
material.

Use local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep proper air
circulation.

Eyes : Wear appropriate eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles.

Skin : Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Use Butyl rubber,
PVA or Viton gloves ( not nitrile)

Clothing : Wear appropriate protective clothing to minimize contact with skin.

Respirators: Use personal respiratory protective equipment to avoid inhalation.

Chemical stability : Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.

Materials to Avoid: There are no known materials which are incompatible with this
product.

Section 11: Toxicological Information

SINGLE-DOSE (ACUTE) ANIMAL STUDIES INDICATE:

     ORAL:  Practically Non-Toxic (Rat LD50 > 6,600 mg/kg)

     DERMAL:  Practically Non-Toxic (Rabbit LD50 > 5,000 mg/kg)

     EYE IRRITATION:  Slightly Irritating (Rabbit)

     SKIN IRRITATION:  Practically Non-irritating (Rabbit, 4 hr. exposure)

     SKIN IRRITATION:  Corrosive (Rabbit, 24 hr. exposure)

ATTENTION!  REPEATED OR PROLONGED CONTACT MAY CAUSE ALLERGIC


SKIN REACTIONS IN SOME PEOPLE.

Acute effects :
Eye contact : May cause irritation
Skin contact : May cause irritation but unlikely. Not absorbed through
skin
Sensitization : Not expected to be skin sensitizer
Ingestion : This product is ingestion hazard. May cause burns
to gastrointestinal tract.
Inhalation : In high concentration can cause irritation and
discomfort.
HEALTH EFFECTS SUMMARY:  Although material is reported to be
“Practically Non- Toxic” and “Practically Non-Irritating” in nature, they do contain very
small quantities of Formaldehyde (<1.2%).  In its pure form formaldehyde presentas
substantial risks to health and safety, but the low concentration levels in Vicatan VB-6
reduce this to proven levels of safety if handled with appropriate precautions.
