A. BACKGROUND
Uplifting educational quality has always been the duty of ones who are associated
with educational terrene and even global citizen. Education is a non-negotiable
requirement to access the world one step further as its existence is one of key elements to
lead both country and its civilian towards a positive revolution of every aspect of life.
Considering this absoluteness, afavorable outcome of English learning is considered as
one the most fundamental aspects that must be possessed by learners especially for those
who will become English teachers in the future. Within these recent times, students are
unable to be proficient in mastering skills in English as the curriculum expected. The
root causes for this phenomenon ranging from the influence of first language, age,
motivation, environment, as well as method and strategies applied in language teaching
itself. In a process of learning language, there must be certain theories that suit students’
need and thus resulted in a successful and effective learning outcomes.

The government has been re-constructing every segment in educational constitution


including the curriculum every once in a while. these efforts are meant to ensure the
gradual adjustment in quality of education. However, these continual actions in most
cases result in a subtle confusion within educational practitioners—teachers and schools.
They often get insufficient resource regarding the change in the structure of latest
developed curriculum. In order to mitigate this dilemma, both teachers and educational
practitioners are offering their best attempt to conceive such methods and strategies of
language teaching that are aligned with the implementation of 2013 national curriculum.

In relation to this perpetual advancement, this seminar is designated for the sake of
improving the quality of education by socializing numbers of updated methods and
strategies of foreign language teaching based on 2013 curriculum. The theme for this
seminar will be “Improving the quality of Education with National 2013 curriculum”. As
for the presented method and strategy, we will be presenting the theories and training of
English teaching using Contextual Teaching Learning (CLT).

C. OBJECTIVE OF THE EVENT


The prior objective of this workshop is to assist teachers in developing teaching
skills, make them able to identify, choose and implement the methods that are suitable
for teaching English to EFL students. Other intent are sum up as follows:
1. Accelerating Education Quality through the application of the 2013 Curriculum
2. Elevating participants' understanding of new learning methods based on 2013
Curriculum
3. Accentuating the capability of participants in the teaching-learning process
4. Enhancing the quality of teachers in Banda Aceh Municipality
5. Assisting socializing recent learning methods and strategies based on the 2013
Curriculum

D. ADVANTAGE OF THE EVENT


This event hopefully will yield the positive outcome for;
1. For Participants, it is expected to be able to increase knowledge about theory in
teaching English,
2. For the organizer of the seminar (committee), it is expected to be able to apply the
knowledge gained from the “Methods and Techniques of the English Language
Teaching” course,
3. For Educational Institutions, it is expected to be able to organize good cooperation in
the development and dedication of the advancement of English education.

K. CLOSING
This business plan was made as an illustration for conducting a workshop on the types
of methods that can be used to teach English in schools in Banda Aceh. We hope that this
workshop will run smoothly without any significant obstacles so that this activity can run
according to the plan and can achieve the goals. This workshop must get support and
positive appreciation from policymakers and people who care about education. The final
outcome expected from this workshop is to increase teacher motivation and performance
in implementing the appropriate and interesting method in teaching and learning activities.
Thus, the competencies that are expected to improve the quality of educated human
resources.
