    baroque pieces.

    regular meters. Its tempo and volume are
    fairly constant within a movement.
    Two figures stand at the heart of
    western classical music: Wolfgang
    Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van
    Beethoven.
    Compositions of the period were
    deemed as expressive and inventive as
    reflected in the harmonies and the
    chromatism of the melodies. They also
    reflected personal emotions and love and
    the nature were viewed with idealism.
    The transition to the modern period is

    moement style.”

    with Filipino lyrics in local color. This

    Mang-await.
    The rise of “manila Sound” in the mid-70s
    gave birth to lyrics using a colloquial
    language called “taglish”.

    The world of pop, also gave rise to the


    Pinoy ballads.

    Disco music reached a measure


    popularity from 1970s – 1980s.
    Dance is a primal instinct used to
    complete an expression other than
    verbal language which is used to
    connect with surroundings and
    beings that are earthly or ethereal.
    It may be logical or abstract
    expression whose form and function
    have been derived from an
    experience according to time and
    place.
    Moving bodies create and shape
    space through visual patterns
    oftentimes accompanied by music
    that is rhythmic and melodies
    pleasing to one’s ears.
    FREE MOVEMENT
    Where there are no certain rules set
    with the body and space.
    No need for training to equip body with
    technical knowledge as everything is as
    basic as the instinct to move.

    Individualized or group dance and
    ritual can be seen among faith
    healers, spiritistas or party goers

    CHA-CHA
    One of the most popular Latin dance next to
    mambo in the 1940s.
    From the inspired blending of American-
    Cuban rhythms mixed with North American
    swing, a couple dance with little contact
    between partners which included a lot of hip
    movement and variety of steps.
    SWING or JIVE
    The dance was inspired from the
    previous craze jitterbug and lindy
    hop, but jive is less energetic and
    with more repetition of steps.
    TWIST
    Easy, no touch dance with a partner
    in which the weight was placed on
    the ball of one foot and the leg and
    hips were twisted.
    DISCO
    It is assimilated into other genres such
    as techno, pop rock, and R & B (rhythm
    and blues).
    It continued to show its influence in the
    21st century as inspiration to pop and
    hip-hop.
    FUNK
    Is a combination of blues and soul.
    It is known for its strong base line
    and heavy downbeats that create
    static harmonies.
    STREET DANCE
    Its style are coined from where the
    dance was performed - in night clubs or
    on the streets.
    Originated in the Bronx in the 1990s that
    made a worldwide phenomenon that is
    seen in various films until like You got
    served (2004), Step Up (2006)
    SPECIAL SCHOOL RESEMBLING A
    RIGID MILITARY ATMOSPHERE
    Bodies are sculpted and mindsets are
    created with attitude to form a special
    technique of the most difficult yet
    basic to the refinement of the dance
    movement.
