1. GENERAL
1.1. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
1.1.1. AUXILIARY POWER UNITS (APU)
Stands 4, 5, 6 and 8:
- Use of 400 Hz facilities is mandatory.
- Use of ACFT APU only when the 400 Hz facilities or mobile units are not oper-
ative, or when the air conditioning service is required and the equipment is
not available.
- Use of harness hook is recommended for fastening of the 400 Hz system to the
ACFT. The airport authority will not accept responsibility for any damage the
ACFT could suffer.
The connection of the 400 Hz system will not be carried out, till:
- The ACFT engines, propellers and rotors will have been stopped;
- The anti-collision lights will have been switched off;
- The chocks will have been inserted.
The approach to the ACFT will be made avoiding the safety area in front of the
engines.
Neither boarding bridge nor any mechanism connecting with it will enter in the
safety area in front of engine during the manoeuvre of connecting with the 400 Hz
system.
In any case, the switched-on engine must be maintained at the minimum power
and the cockpit crew must remain at their post.
1.1.2. RUN-UP TEST
Engine power test higher than idling is forbidden in any apron stand except stand
10. If this stand is occupied, Operation Coordination Center (CEOPS) will report
it to TWR, who will give instructions for performing the test at a specific place
outside the apron. The engine performance test higher than idling shall be
requested from APT CEOPS (coordinacionvgo@aena.es; FAX: +34 986 268211;
TEL: +34 986 268204), who will report this to TWR.

1.2. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)


1.2.1. GENERAL
LVP will be applied when RVR is 1700m or below or ceiling is 441’/135m or below
(BKN/OVC 004 or below).
LVP will be cancelled when RVR is above 1900m or ceiling is higher than
491’/150m (BKN/OVC at or above 005) for at least 10 minutes and, following con-
sultation with MET office, an improving trend is expected.
Pilots will be informed about application of LVP via RTF. Pilots will also be
informed of any notified or detected incident in relation to visual and non-visual
APCH aids, take-off and taxiing, anti-intrusion systems in critical areas, sensi-
tive areas and active RWY and any other available aid, which may affect LVP and
existing MET conditions, besides modifications which may take place and affect
the LVP.
Any notified or detected incidence that may affect LVP will be immediately com-
municated to ACFT and ATC units implicated.
Landing clearance will not be supplied after ACFT reaches the 2NM point from
TDZ. If this is not possible, instructions for a missed APCH will be issued.
When ILS approaches are taking place, landing clearance will only be issued when
critical and sensitive ILS areas are vacated.
ATC will inform pilots when LVP are to be cancelled.

1. GENERAL
1.2.2. GROUND MOVEMENT
1.2.2.1. GENERAL
Pilots will proceed to verify ACFT position at each moment, especially at inter-
sections, checking that taxiing is being executed under conditions of complete
safety. In case of being disoriented or in doubt, pilots must STOP ACFT, notify
immediately ATC and request assistance of a Follow-me car.
If RVR is 600m or below, or if the transmissometers are not available, VIS is
800m or below:
- ATC shall only authorize the taxiing of an ACFT within the maneuvering area.
- TWY between C1 and C3 is outside the manoeuvring area, so it is considered
inside the apron; ATC must authorize the taxiing of an ACFT on apron.
- The maximum number of ACFT that can be moved simultaneously in the area of
movement is 2.
In the case of code letter E ACFT (with wingspan greater than 200'/60.90m,
higher than that of B777) and F, they will have to leave RWY via C1.
1.2.2.2. ARRIVALS
When vacating RWY, pilots will report RWY vacated, sensitive area vacated and
TWY used.
For ACFT of code letter D, E and F, when leaving the RWY, the pilots will notify
RWY vacated, TWY used, TWY vacated and sensitive area vacated.
With RVR 600m or below, or if the transmissometers are not available, VIS 800m
or below, ACFT at the entrance of the stand apron, will wait for the presence of
the Follow-me car, to be guided to the assigned stand. At the pilot's request, this
will be guided to the assigned stand. Pilot will notify the stand and closure of the
frequency.
In APCH to RWY 19 with LVP, RWY must be vacated via TWY C3.
Code letter E ACFT (with wingspan greater than 200'/60.90m, higher than that of
B777) and F when not being able to leave RWY for TWY C3, will abandon via TWY
C1.
If RVR is 600m or below, or if no transmissometers are available, VIS is 800m or
below, ATC will give instructions for:
- Once landing by the THR 19, that ACFT makes a 180^ turn on the turn pad 01.
- Keep waiting on the RWY after turning 180^ to be guided by the Follow-me car.
- ATC will request the TOAM guidance of ACFT. TOAM will ask ATC for permis-
sion to carry out this guidance with the Follow-me car, making this guidance
through TWY C1 towards the apron stand.
1.2.2.3. DEPARTURES
Pilots will request clearance for engines start-up or taxiing, notifying the stand
occupied.
Pilots will report beginning of taxiing towards TWY C1 or C3. In the event of VIS
below 200m, or if the transmissometers are not available, the VIS is 800m or
below, Follow-me car will guide ACFT to corresponding TWY, when pilot or ATC
should so request.
Pilots will have to STOP at RWY holding position, prior to RWY entry.
Pilots will report the entry to RWY.
Whenever a departing ACFT needs to return to apron, pilot will inform Tower and
wait for new taxi instructions.
In departures with LVP, RWY may be vacated via TWY C1 or C3.
In the entry of RWY via TWY C3, proceed with CAUTION due to possible confusion
of the TWY C3 centerline lights with THR lights of RWY 01.

1.2.3. COMMUNICATION FAILURE AND ANOMALOUS SITUATIONS IN
MANEUVERING AREA
1.2.3.1. DEPARTURES
ACFT will continue by assigned route to ATC clearance limit, taking extreme
CAUTION, where it will hold position and will wait for arrival of Follow-me car
that will guide it to parking position or designated holding bay/position.
1.2.3.2. ARRIVAL
If ACFT has just landed, it will hold position once it has vacated the RWY com-
pletely and will wait for arrival of Follow-me car that will guide it to designated
parking position.
If ACFT already has ATC taxi authorization, it will continue by the designated
route, if any, to ATC clearance limit, taking extreme CAUTION, where it will
hold position and will wait for arrival of Follow-me car that will guide it to park-
ing position or designated holding bay/position.

1.3. TAXI PROCEDURES


Code D, E and F ACFT taxiing at reduced speed, with engines at idle regime and,
whenever possible, with outboard engines 1 and 4 off.
Code E (with wingspan larger than 200'/60.9m) and F ACFT have to use TWY C1;
TWY C3 is restricted.
Code D, E and F ACFT must carry out oversteering maneuver in order to correct
the path in the curved segments of TWY C1 and C3 (except code F ACFT), as there
is less than 14.8'/4.5m between the outer wheel of the main gear and the edge of
TWY. The maneuver will be supported by follow-me car.
Due to the distance of 577'/176m between the centerline of the TWY on apron
C1-C3 and the centerline of RWY 01/19, during the taxiing of code letter E and F
ACFT, only one ACFT shall be allowed to move in the following area of the move-
ment area delimited by the RWY section parallel to the TWY on apron C1-C3 and
the TWY on apron C1-C3.

1.4. PARKING INFORMATION


On stands 1, 1A and 2 thru 8 push-back required.
Stands 1A, 5, 7A and 10A used for code D ACFT.
Stand 7A used for code E and F ACFT.
Stands H0 thru H5 available for helicopters.
On stands 7A and 9 push-back possible.

It is mandatory to contract a handling agent for all operations of General and
Business Aviation.
All General and Business operations must comply with the following procedure:

2. Depending on occupancy of the apron, LEVX Operation Centre (CECOA) will or
will not approve this operation.
3. If the flight is approved by CECOA and also has to hire a Handling Agent, crew
should be aware of the Handling Agent hired at LEVX.
Hiring of handling services is compulsory for General and Business Aviation oper-
ations when MTOW:
- MTOW more than 2MT with passengers.
- MTOW more than 3.5MT without passengers.
In these cases, in arrival operations, passengers and crew members shall wait for
the arrival of the handling agent.
IFR and VFR flights without previous authorization will be rejected.

2. ARRIVAL
2.1. CAT II/III OPERATIONS
RWY 19 approved for CAT II/III operations, special aircrew and ACFT certifica-
tion required.

2.2. TAXI PROCEDURES


If no stand taxiing instructions have been received when vacating the RWY, the
ACFT will stop at the end of the section of the TWY before entering the apron and
shall await instructions from the Follow-me car.
TWYs C1 and C3 should not be used as HST.

3. DEPARTURE
3.1. DE-ICING
De-icing for Code letter C or lower ACFT on stands 4, 8 and 9.
De-icing for Code letter D or higher ACFT on stand 7A.

3.2. START-UP OF ENGINES/TURBINES


Pilots shall request permission to start up engines/turbines on the frequency cor-
responding to VIGO Tower. When that permission is requested, ACFT must be
completely ready for start-up or in condition to do so within a maximum period of
5 MIN, otherwise pilot shall notify ATC.
On requesting start-up, pilot shall indicate the complete call sign of ACFT and
stand occupied.
Start-up request must be made, considering that the ACFT is ready to exit stand,
with the following criteria:
- ACFT with assigned CTOT: 10 MIN before their CTOT, if they are parked on
stands with exit by push-back, or 5 MIN before their CTOT for remaining
stands.
- ACFT without assigned CTOT: If they need towed push-back, MAX 5 MIN after
their EOBT. In the remaining cases, MAX 10 MIN after EOBT.

NORDO ACFT prohibited.
Arrivals:
ACFT shall establish radio contact with TWR before reaching REPs E or W and shall request clearance
to enter the CTR maintaining MAX 1000' SFC. Before entering CTR, pilots have to report their position,
flight level or altitude and will request landing instructions. In some cases, ACFT will be initially cleared
to hold over the REPs before clearance to enter CTR is granted.
The RWY center line and its extension will never be crossed without TWR or APP permission.
All landing ACFT exceeding exit TWYs towards apron, shall continue taxiing to accomplish the turn at
end of RWY.
Radio failure:
ACFT shall enter the CTR via the specified routes, maintaining MAX 1000' SFC. ACFT shall hold
NW of AD in sight of TWR to expect visual signals, staying clear of the AD traffic circuit.
CAUTION:
In the entry of RWY via TWY C3, proceed with caution due to possible confusion of the TWY C3
centre line lights with THR lights of RWY 01.
Bird concentration in the vicinity of AD and on RWY.

Taxiing Routes (HEL)
HEL will be approved to enter or leave from RWY 01/19 via TWY C1 and TWY C3. Entry to apron will be realized
via these standardized TWYs to the assigned stand.

Arrivals (HEL)
HEL will land via RWY 01/19 and will leave RWY via TWY C1 or TWY C3 following ATC instructions, to continue
via apron TWY to the stand guided always by the “Follow me” vehicle.

Departures (HEL)
HEL will depart from RWY 01/19. They will start taxiing from the stand via TWY in the apron to the holding posi-
tion of TWY C1 or TWY C3 following the ATC instructions.
