Introduction Description
§ Coaxial cables are most common,
of
basic transmission lines
§ They are used to transmit electrical energy, or
coaxial cable
signals, from one location to another: to connect a § o

§ The center conductor and the In
outer conductor, are configured
in such a way that they form sul
concentric cylinders with a ati
common axis. Hence the term on
"co-axial".

Types Of Co-axial Cabel:

1. Flexible coaxial cable

2.Semi Rigid Coaxial Cable
3.Hand Formable Coaxial Cable
4.Twin-axial Cable
5.Tri-axial Cable
Advantages
ü They are most common means of data transmission over short
distances.
ü They are cheap to make.
ü Cheap to install.
ü Easy to modify. ü Good
bandwidth. ü Great
channel capacity.

Disadvantages
ü Signals entering the cables can cause unwanted noise and
picture ghosting, making it useless.
ü A continuous current flow, even if small,
along the imperfect shield of a coaxial cable can cause
visible and audible interference.
ü More expensive than twisted pair and is not supported
for some network standards.
ü It also has high attenuation, have the need
to implement repeaters.
