 Picture analysis
 Ask the students about the previous lesson
 Sharing of ideas

B. Establishing a purpose for a lesson/motivation

Show actual ports and connector of input/output devices and ask the student if
they want to know how it works. Let them connect the connectors of I/O devices to
its ports.

IV. Developmental Activities

1. Preparatory (unlocking difficulties)
a. Connectors - also called cables and wires.
b. RJ45 - Registered Jack 45.
c. USB - Universal Serial Bus
d. VGA - Video Graphic Array
e. LAN - Local Area Network
f. Peripherals - a computer device, such as a keyboard or printer

2. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

Video Presentation about ports and connector
Guide Questions:
a. How will you determine whether it is a port or a connector?
b. How important is a connector and port to a computer or any
gadgets?

3. Developing Mastery:
Activity:
a. Divide the students into groups.
b. Each group will be using wonder share quiz creator application to
match the pictures of ports to its name and functions. (3 minutes)
c. At the end of the quiz, the group will get their actual score on how
many answers they got correctly.
d. The teacher will record the score.

4. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

Activity:(Perform connecting pc peripherals)
a. The teacher pairs the students and assigns their station.
b. Proper procedures will be given.
c. Students shall perform on how to connect and disconnect the
computer peripherals.
d. Each pair will be given actual computer peripherals to use for
performance
e. Safety rules and regulation will be following to avoid
accidents.
f. Allotted time will be 180 seconds to finish the activity.
g. Criteria will be given

CRITERIA
Components Percentage
Accuracy/ functionality 50%
Adherence to the procedures 20%
Workmanship (Teamwork) 20%
Speed 10%
Total 100

5. Finding Practical Application of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living:

Performing connecting ports and connectors is to allow the connectors
transfer instructions and data to flow between the computer and device. The
students will familiarize themselves in proper procedure in connecting pc
peripherals.

a. What do you think will happen if you lost your connector or damage
your port?
b. Why do we need to be Meticulous (very careful) in connecting the
connector to the ports of computer hardware?

6. Making abstraction and generalization

In computer, port generally refers to the part of a computing
device available for connection to peripherals such as input and output
device. Basically it can connect to all types of external devices of a
computer such as mouse, keyboard, printer, speakers, etc.
