COURSE TITLE : Life and Works of Rizal

COURSE UNIT : 3 Units: 3-Hour Lecture

PRE-REQUISITE : None
COURSE OBJECTIVE : To understand better the life of Jose Rizal through his writings that in return will result to the renewed/established nationalism of the
Filipino youth that has been missing for the past half a century.

COURSE DESCRIPTION : To provide an in-depth appreciation of man’s socio-political, socio-cultural, socio-economic and socio-artistic thoughts to the
emergence of liberal mind-setting and nationhood among the Filipinos of the past and of the present. It deals with the study of Rizal’s
life, teachings and literary works as applied to the present times.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES :
1. To acquire knowledge and understanding of Rizal life, works and writings as part of his times and milieu
2. To gain more knowledge of the socio-political, socio-cultural, socio-economic and socio-artistic aspirations of Rizal for the Filipinos and for the country
3. To develop nationalism and a concern for the nation
