COURSE CODE : GEE 4


COURSE TITLE : SPEECH COMMUNICATION
CREDITS UNIT : 3
TIME FRAME : 54 HOURS
PREREQUISITE : GEE 3
COURSE DESCRIPTION :
This course provides for the improvement of skills needed in
oral interchange between people. It includes a study of mechanics
of oral communication, the various speech forms and models for
analysis, the principles underlying the performance of each form
and a great deal of opportunity for intensive practice. It also
provides skill on vowel and consonant sounds, intonation, stress,
blending, and juncture and ends up in oral interpretation of
poems and delivery of the different kinds of speeches as practice
for the lessons learned.

COURSE OBJECTIVES : At the end of the semester, the


students are expected to:
1. Define communication as a system
2. Identify and explain the function of the communication
elements
3. Explain obstacles to verbal communication
4. Identify the sound and consonant sounds
5. Identify the general purpose for speaking
6. Improve small and public communication skills
7. Prepare and deliver a persuasive speech

The study of literary forms or genres as exemplified by
selected literary texts from various regions of the Philippines
written at different periods in Philippine literary history.
COURSE OBJECTIVES : At the end of the semester, the
students are expected to:
1. identify the various literary forms or genre with their
respective characteristics;
2. read literary texts representing various regions, periods, and
genres;
3. write analysis and reflection papers on literary texts;
4. express appreciation in reading Philippine literary texts
