Family Structures
Everybody knows how important a family is. My classmate, who was born out of
wedlock, has asked me how it feels having a complete family. I almost cannot utter a simple
word because I knew how and what he felt at that time when he asked me such question.
Nevertheless, I answered him candidly but assured him that not all nuclear family lives the
way he thinks.
The Single-Parent Family, at one hand, consists of one parent raising one or more
children on his/her own. Often, a single parent family is a mother with her children,
although there are single fathers as well. Single parent families are generally close. They
find ways to work together.
On the other hand, Extended Family structure consists of two or more adults who
are related, either by blood or marriage, living in the same home. This family includes many
relatives living together and working toward common goals, such as raising the children and
keeping up with the household duties.
