Units of Competence – Assistant Driller Level

INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome to the Aban In-House Training Programme. This Programme is designed to be

completed at the worksite (On the Task Training – OJT). On receipt of this booklet, discuss the
content with your Supervisor (Driller/Toolpusher).

**The Assistant Driller will have successfully completed the IWCF Drillers Level Certificate

*The Assistant Driller will, as a pre-requisite, have completed the Basic Safety Skills and
Floorman Competency Modules.

Page 3 lists the 14 units to be achieved. These units are not set-out in any specific training order
requirement as rig operations will dictate what can be achieved practically.

There is a sign-off element section at the end of this booklet.

Page 4 onwards itemises the individual elements of performance that must be achieved before
gaining one unit.

Example:

The 1st unit is entitled "Risk Assessment" (See Page 3).

Page 4 shows the 8 elements that have to be achieved to complete the 1st unit.

Your Supervisor will be required to assess your competence for each element. As you achieve
the required level for each element the Rig Supervisor would then initial and date that element.

On completion of all elements the Rig Supervisor would then initial and date that unit on Page
3.

On completion of all units please send the booklet to the Training Dept. for registration,
whereupon it will be returned to you.

There is no actual workbook associated with this OJT Module. The candidate will work with his
supervisor (Driller/Toolpusher) to complete this Module.

THIS BOOK IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
