JOB VACANCY
1. INTRODUCTION
Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA) is a members based organization, that endeavors to bring together its members
through enhanced collaboration and cooperation in matters of common interest and also elevate professional standards
in the industry. It seeks to position its members as main contributor and facilitator of economic growth in Tanzania;
committed to operate and carry on its daily activities in close cooperation with all its stakeholders, including the
Government, regulatory authorities, the media, and the general public. TBA has a current membership of 43 banks and
financial institutions.
2.2. JOB AIM: To supervise and coordinate research, policy reviews, economic and industry analysis to support
evidence based advocacy while ensuring that banking sector interest are well articulated and addressed through the
right channels to foster better business, policy and regulatory environment for the development of the industry as we
position ourselves as the “blood” to facilitate economic growth of our country.
To have an effective engagement with the government and other relevant stakeholders in formulating and implementing
pro-growth policies that promote Banking industry’s competitiveness; encourage domestic and foreign investment and
pursue regional and international economic cooperation and opportunities, while fostering professionalism as we
address the skills and leadership.

4) Identify gaps and needs assessment of the policy formulation and regulatory reviews process. And advocate for
the development of regulations, guidelines and policy.
5) Ensure regular presence in the media by ways of press conference or article publications on the positive
developments and banking sector initiatives.
6) Coordinate preparation for TBA participation in relevant forums, such as Task Force, Parliamentary Committee,
Regional blocks forums, and other relevant forums of benefit to the banking industry.
7) Source for activity sponsorships from various stakeholders including development partners to assist in various
TBA initiatives including industry human capital capacity building.
8) Attend and participate in forums of relevance to the banking industry, migrate best practices and advise on future
developments of the sector.
9) Maintain Data Centre for data, research, surveys and other relevant information that would be of relevancy to
Members and contribute to the advocacy and financial inclusion agenda.
10) Conduct monthly surveys on key industry performance indicators and prepare advice paper on trends and areas
that needs urgent attention with members only or with the Regulator.
11) Contribute to team efforts in ensuring that for sustainability of the industry and TBA as an institution, we reduce
budget dependency on membership fee.
12) Collaborate with key various stakeholders such as research firms, academia, development partners in coming up
impactful solutions based on a researched papers towards implementation of SDGs.
13) Managing and building the expertise of other members of the research team. You will lead and manage a team
of research staff, planning and coordinating all research activities and will actively coach junior staff to enhance
their capacity.
14) Supporting the Executive Director, and the management in developing and implementing TBA broader strategies
and business plan.
15) Providing support to other researchers and innovators seeking to undertake work relevant to TBA’s goals. This
will include helping access to appropriate materials, contacts and other resources.
16) Where appropriate organize research and innovation events and communities of practice to stimulate discussion
and exchange of ideas on topics relevant to TBA’s objectives.
17) Preparation and implementation of Departmental Annual Business Plan.
18) Any other duty as assigned by the Executive Director.
2.5. DELIVERABLES
1) Percentage of the implementation of Advocacy strategy/issues resolved.
2) Extent of capacity building to TBA members on advocacy activities and number of industry players supported in
Advocacy work.
3) Extent of TBA participation in policy law development/ processes (Number of policies/Laws developed with the
involvement of TBA)
4) Number of new partnerships established for research and advocacy.
5) Reports/concept notes/Research paper for well analyzed researched issues for reform purposes and dialogue
process;
6) Number of Developed project proposals for funding of advocacy and other TBA initiatives within agreed
timeframe.
7) Number of articles published in local and regional newspapers and media engagement on industry topical issues.
8) Quarterly TBA flagship report and TBA Newsletter is produced and published on time.
