Jack up the vehicle by the front axle and place trestles under the axle.

Remove the wheel.
Remove the drain plug and oil level plug from the hub cap. Drain the oil into a vessel.

Fit the hoist trolley 9994940 with the support 9999591 under the brake drum and fasten it with a
belt. Remove the hub cap with the tool 9996773.

Remove the brake drum. If necessary, use two M12 x 40 mm bolts by screwing them to the holes in
the drum.
Install the dial gauge with the magnetic base contacting the hub. Fit the dial gauge contact tip to the
axle knuckle end. Measure the bearing axial play by pulling and pushing the hub and turning it at
the same time. The axial play should be 0.04 – 0.12 mm.

0.04–0.12 mm

To adjust the bearing play, remove the ring and the lock washer.
A 60°
Loosen the nut from the hub and tighten it with a torque of 450 Nm
(45 kgfm). Then, loosen the nut by torquing it to just a few degrees (60°).

Check again the bearing play according to the step 6.
Note: In some cases, there should be necessary to repeat the torque on the hub nut and turn back a few degrees for
more or for less if it is hard to obtain the correct play in the first time.

Install the brake drum and let the hoist trolley under it. Replace the O-ring in the hub cap and
lubricate it with oil. Install the hub cap and tighten it with a torque of 250 Nm (25 kgfm). Use the tool
9996773.

Release the belt and remove the hoist trolley 9994940.

A Filling plug
B Level plug
Add approximately 0.3 litresof oil to the hub. To fill it, keep the hub cap in such a position that the
letter "V", as well as the sign "oil level" are in a reading position , as shown in the illustration.
Insert oil via the filling plug (A) as far as it slips away through the level plug (B). That is a sign that
the level is correct.
Note: Add oil slowly so as to allow it to adjust and, consequently, reach the correct level.
