2 Apply the parking brake.
3 Wipe or vacuum clean the brake calipers and brake pads.
4 Remove the protecting cover.
CAUTION
Risk of material damage.
The mechanism can be easily damaged if the adjusting screw is over-tightened.
▶ Do not exceed the maximum specified torque. Use a ratchet spanner, do NOT use a nut runner.
Tech data
Brake, adjusting screw, maximum torque (FBRA-D43) 40 Nm
5 Turn the adjustment screw anti-clockwise (A) to increase the play.

Tech data
Solid brake disc, permitted crack depth (A) 1 – 1.5 mm
Brake discs with cracks and unevenness that exceed the depth limit (A) must be replaced.
Brake discs with continuous, radial cracks that extend over the edge must be replaced if the
cracks exceed the depth limit.

Conditions
● For ventilated brake discs.
▶ Check for cracks.
Tech data
Brake discs with continuous, radial cracks that extend over more than half the surface of the disc
must be replaced, regardless of where the crack is located on the disc's surface.

8 Measure the brake disc thickness.
Brake disc, minimum permitted thickness

Normal Value 40 mm
Conditions: When replacing the brake pads. 42 mm
Note
Measure at every third wheel stud.
Note
Use en micrometer with deep shanks.
Note
If the brake pads shall be replaced, then the wear must not exceed the specified value.

9 Check that the brake calipers can easily be slid between their end stops using only manual
force.
10 Check the dust covers (B).

Note
The dust covers are sucked together when the brake calipers are pushed out, which
indicates that the covers are undamaged. Avoid sudden movements that could detach
the dust covers.
11 Turn the adjustment screws for the brake pistons backwards and forwards.

Check that the dust covers (A) swell or are sucked together which indicates that the
covers are undamaged.

▶ Install the retaining plates with new screws.
▶ Torque tighten the screws.

▶ Torque tighten the screws.

13 Turn the adjustment screw clockwise (A) to reduce the play.

The brake pads must touch the disc, but the hub must still be easy to turn by hand.
14 Turn the adjustment screw anti-clockwise (B) to achieve the correct play.
Tech data
Disc brake, adjustment value 120 – 180°
15 Install the protecting cover.

Note
Ensure that the protecting cover is not damaged.

Replace if necessary.
16 Adjust the brake on the other side in the same way.
17 The brakes are calibrated automatically on brakes with electronic sensors.
18 Apply the brakes a number of times.
19 Check that the hubs rotate freely.
