A score of 4 represents accomplished poetry that effectively uses conventions like rhyme and meter, graphical elements, and figurative language to skillfully convey meaning. A score of 3 is satisfactory poetry that understands and applies most conventions. A score of 2 shows a basic understanding but may misapply conventions. A score of 1 reflects very limited understanding and mastery of poetic techniques.
