How has violence affected my life?
Violence has affected my life in many different ways. One example of this is my school locking all the doors to keep everyone in the school safe. If youth violence was not a thing all the school doors would probably be unlocked. Another thing at school that happens to prevent youth violence is that teachers are supposed to open the door. One of my teachers said that it is that way because she should get hurt first before kids. If kids do open the door they should look out the window before opening the door. My teacher told us a story about when a school district worker knocked on the door but she didn’t let him in until he showed her his badge. Also a way that youth violence has affected my life is that it is all over the news and my phone. Sometimes when I go on snapchat or other types of social media, there are ads that give awareness for youth violence. In some schools there have been big acts of youth violence like someone stabbing another person or a school shooting. That makes me worried because that could happen at my school at any time.
What are the causes of youth violence?
Youth violence has many causes, some of them are dating abuse and people being really mad at others. If a child has a very violent out-of-school life he will probably be very violent at school. One time I saw on the news that a boy stabbed a girl at his school because she broke up with him. Social media can cause youth violence because kids can bully or harass other kids on it. Another major thing that causes youth violence is video games. Video games can have a really big toll on how kids and teens act. On the news they said that a kid shot his parents because he thought that they were going to respawn. As you know humans do not respawn so the kid ended up putting his parents in a really bad condition.
What can I do about youth violence?
Something that I can do about youth violence is help someone that has gotten abused are has been affected by youth violence. A way of helping someone that has a bad family is by letting them stay over at your house for some days. Another thing that I could do is to start a club at school. The club would give a bracelet to people who do an act of kindness or help others that are dealing with youth violence. If I got one of those bracelets I would be really proud of my self and I would encourage others to get one too. If I was walking down the street and I saw people or a group of people breaking the law and doing bad things I would just avoid them. Some people would just go up to them and talk. That is how people get hurt because they can say one wrong thing and the gang could really hurt them.
