of you are comfortable with. You only have 10 minutes to do
this activity and after the activity, I will call a student to stand
in front of the classroom and state what are the good things
they found out about his/her partner which they think can
inspire other students.
Are we clear? Yesma’am !

Okay. You may now start, students. (The students will do the activity in

about their life that you want to know. This activity has
something to do with the topic that we are going to discuss
today.

Who has an idea about our topic for today, class?

Ma’am, I think that the topic that we are
going to discuss today is about
Principles..

Very good, student!

Today, our topic for today has something to do with principles

and to be more specific, today, we are going to discuss about
the foundation and moral principles.

C. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON AND

OBJECTIVES
Our lesson for today is about the Foundational and
Moral Principle.

First, let me present to you class the learning

objectives for this lesson.
At the end of this 60-minute lesson, the students
Republic of the Philippines

should be able to:

Will you read it, student?

a. understood the foundational
principles of morality.
b. summarized the
foundational principles of
morality.
c. Internalized the
foundational principles of
morality as future educator.

(The students will say 'yes'

simultaneously)

Thank you for reading. Are you ready class for our
lesson for today?
Say yes if you are!

D. LESSON PROPER
Let’s first know the meaning of morality.
Will you read it Ann drei?

Morality refers to “the quality of

human acts by which we call
them right or wrong, good or
evil.” (Panizo,1964)
Human action is right when it
conforms with the norm, rule, or
Thank you, student! law of morality.
Republic of the Philippines
President Ramon Magsaysay State University
(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)

Tel/Fax No.: (047) 811-168

So, morality is a principle that focuses on

individualism. It is how we see and classify an action
as either good or bad based on our personal moral
principle and judgement.
In our life, we always have options to be either good
or bad in a situation but whatever that situation is, we
should always choose to be right by following what
we think is good.
Have you ever found yourself in a crossword of
decision that forces you to do a wrong action? Yes, maam!

How did you overcome being able to choose doing

right things instead of the wrong ones? (answers may vary)

Based on your personal opinion, does morality may

only work for us humans? I think no maam. All things in this
world experience good and bad things.
They experience good deeds. However,
they are also sometimes manipulated
such as the environment and animals.

Excellent, student! Thank you for that oppossing

answer.
But to make it clear, morality is only applicable to
human beings.
Human beings, unlike other animals, are able to reflect
on andMake judgements about our own and others’
actions, and as a result, we are able to make
considered moral choices.

For instance, when Bea gets the pencil of Ana without

the latter’s permission, do you think Bea’s action is
right or wrong? It's obviously wrong, ma’am!

That is correct! Bea’s action is wrong because it is

adherent to the norm, “stealing is wrong”. A man’s
action, habit or character is good when it is not
lacking of what is natural to man, i.e when it is
accordance with man’s nature.
Republic of the Philippines

(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)

For instance, it is unnatural for man to behave like a

beast because he is not a beast. He is man and, unlike
the beast, he has intellect and free will. That intellect
makes him capable of thinking, judging and
reasoning. His free will give him the ability to choose.

Now that we have an idea about morality, let’s

proceed with its foundations.

Who wants to read, students? (A student will raise his/her hand and
read the Meaning of foundational moral
principle)

Meaning of Foundational Moral

Principle
-The word principle comes the latin
word “princeps” which means a
beginning, a source. A principle is that
on which something is based, founded,
originated, initiated.
Well spoken, student!
It is important for us to know the foundation of
principles because this will guide us and serve as our
foundation in making right decision in every situation
that we are in.

So, lets proceed Where is this foundational moral

principle? It is contained in the natural law. It is
Who wants to read, students? the law written in the hearts of men.

All men and women, regardless of race and belief,

have a sense of this foundational moral principle. “it is
built onto the design of human nature and woven into
the fabric of the normal human mind.”

And now that we have an idea about the foundations

of morality, let’s now proceed with the different
viewpoints of morality by some of the pioneers of the
past:
Who wants to read, students?
According to Kung Fu Tsu, he quoted this famous line
Republic of the Philippines
President Ramon Magsaysay State University
(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)
Castillejos, Zambales, Philippines
Tel/Fax No.: (047) 811-168

"Do not do to others what you do not like others do to

you".
What does this quote mean, class? In my own opinion, this quote simply
means that do not do anything to your
fellow man what you dont want them to
receprocate to you as a return of what
you do towards them.

Very well said, student!

The things you do to others, will be the things that you
will receive from them. To make it simple, treat them
properly and they will treat you the same way. Respect
them and you will be respected by them .

Do you understand, class? Yes, ma'am!

Very good, students!

Proceeding to the next foundation of moral principles,
Emmanuel Kant also stated a quote "Do to others what
you like others do to you".
Based on this quote by Emmanuel Kant, what does I think maam that this quote states that
this want to imply? anything you want to receive, is
something that you should do to others.

Very good, student!

So, class it is just a matter of giving back. What you
wish to receive is something that you will receive. For
example, if you want to be treated properly, you also
treat others as the way you want to be treated.

Aside from Emmanuel Kant's principle, there is also

this so-called Golden Rule of Christianity (positive
form), stating that "act in such a way that your maxim
can be the maxim for all.
Whenever you hear this quote, what is the first thing
that comes to your mind, students? For me maam, it's about influencing
others by doing such actions that are
worth emulating.
Republic of the Philippines

(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)

Well said, student!

So, the categorical imperative is a moral principle
which denotes that you should “act only in accordance
with that maxim through which you can at the same
time will that it become a universal law”, meaning that
you should act a certain way only if you're willing to
have everyone else act the same way too.

After this, we are now moving on to the next

foundation of moral principle which is the Two Great
commandments which include "love God with all your
heart, with all your mind, with all your strength " and
"love your neighbor as you love yourself "
First, we have "love God with all your heart, with all
your mind, with all your strength ".

This quote can be easily understood class. It simply

states that we have to love our almighty God with all
of our heart, mind, and strength. While living in this
world, we have to spend our time using ourselves for
him.
Next is "love your neighbor as you love yourself ".
This quote simply states that we should treat our
mankind like how we treat ourselves. We should
consider others as part of our identity that we need to
love, respect, and embrace no matter what.
Are you getting my point, class? Yes, maam!

Very good!

Next moral principle is the The Buddhists state this

through the 8- fold Path.

Who wants to read, students?

The Buddhists state this through the 8-
fold Path.
1.strive to know the truth
2.resolve to resist evil
3. Say nothing to hurt others
4. Respect life, morality and property
5.engagedl in a job that does not injure
others
Republic of the Philippines
President Ramon Magsaysay State University
(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)

6. Strive to free their mind of evil

7.control their feelings and thoughts
8. Practice proper forms of
concentration

Thank you!
So, the main purpose of the stage of the Eightfold Path
in our life requires you to put effort in to living a good
life which will help end suffering. This stage of the
Eightfold Path requires you to be aware of others
around you, and in particular be aware of the suffering
in the world and how you can help escape this.
Do you understand, class? Yes, ma’am!

Very good! .

Next we have the Islamic Koran.

Who wants to read it and state the message of this,
students? The Islamic Koran
-forbids lying, stealing, adultery and
murder."it also teaches "honor for
parents, kindness to slaves, protection
for the orphaned and the widowed and
charity to the poor.It teaches the virtues
of faith in God, patience, kindness,
honesty, industry, honor, courage and
generosity.

Very good, student!

E. APPLICATION
Let’s now proceed to our activity for this topic.
Here's the instruction, students!

Direction: “ Do good; avoid evil” is the foundational

moral principle. Give at least five(5) good things that
you have to do as a future teacher and five(5) evil
Republic of the Philippines
President Ramon Magsaysay State University
(Formerly Ramon Magsaysay Technological University)

Tel/Fax No.: (047) 811-168

things you have to do avoid doing.

Good things I have to do as a future
teacher:
1. I should have a positive attitude and a
sense of humor to lighten up the
atmosphere.
2. I should inspire my students to learn
and to succeed.
3. I should open my eyes and ears to my
student’s needs and concerns.
4. I should help them learn and explore
new things.
5. I should collaborate with my students
so that I will know them more and to
have an effective education.
Evil things I have to avoid as a teacher:
1. I should never laid a hand to my
students.
2. I should never look down on my
students.
3. I should never give my students
difficult activities or in short, should not
pressure them.
4. I should never be biased to my
students.
5. I should never share the confidential
things that my students share to me.

So class lets proceed to Teacher as a person of good moral

character.
Who wants to reads, students? As laid down in the preamble of our
Code of Ethics of Professional
Teachers. “teachers are duly licenced
professional who possess dignity and
reputation with high moral values as
well as technical and professional
competence. In the practice of their
profession, they strictly adhere to,
observe and practice this set of ethical
and moral principles, standards and
values.
It means a teacher is a facilitator of learning and of the
development of youth. He/She shall. Therefore. Render the

best service by providing an environment conductive to such

learning and growth. The code of ethics for teachers is
designed to protect the rights of the students, all the students.
It is important that teachers understand that when they get a
teaching position they are agreeing to follow the code of
ethics.

It is emphasized in this lesson that a teacher as person should

be of good moral character. Now when can we say that he or
she is of good moral character.
There are 4 identifying behaviors that we need to observe.
Who wants to read, students?

1. Human
2. Loving
3. Virtuous
4. Mature

Is it clear class? Yes ma’am!

Now lastly class our app is moral when it is in accordance
with our human nature. Our act is immoral when it is contrary
to our human nature. Our intellect and free will make us
different from and above the beast.
And as a future teacher you are expected to be a person with
moral character.

F. GENERALIZATION
I know, students that each of you really learned a lot
from the topics that we just discussed. So, I hope that
all of you are able to familiarize every important ideas
of this topic. Kindly answer the question.
1. Why is morality being only for a person? Only human beings can act
morally. Another reason for ging
dtronger preference to the
interest of human beings is that
only human being can act
morally. This considered to be
important because beings that
can act morally are required to
sacrifice their interests for the
Excellent student! sake of others.
