3.0 Purpose:

The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the details used and controls to
be carried out for the installation of Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump
and accessories for HVAC System to ensure that it complies with Project
requirements, Project Specifications (Section 23- 2123 ) and standards.

4.0 Scope:

This Method Statement is applicable to all Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water
Pump and accessories for HVAC System at Doha Convention Centre & Tower Project.
Manpower and Equipments shall be organized to meet the schedule as per approved
Construction program.
The Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and its components
assemblies used for HVAC Chilled Water system serves as the main auxiliary pumping
device.
Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit shall be installed in each
Concrete foundation plinth of entire section parts and the components assemblies.
ETA-Debbas Mechanical team shall execute the installation process and if required
with the participation and assistance from Manufacturer & Supplier (M/s Armstrong
Co. & Petrofac Co. Qatar) Technical representatives till the installation and approval
completion.

5.0 Definition:

5.2 “Approved” or “Approval”

“Approved” or “Approvals” means approved in writing by the applicable Engineers
Assistant acting within the scope of their delegate authority.

5.3 “Shop Drawings”

“Shop Drawings” means drawings produced where the contract designs drawings
require expressing in more basic form to facilitate construction.
5.4 “Final Inspection”
“Final Inspection” means the inspection of the records of works at completion or at
completion of pre-determined elements to ensure that all previous inspections and
tests have been satisfactorily carried out and properly recorded.

5.5 “Materials”
“Materials” means all items covering the materials or equipments delivered to site
that must be incorporated in the project.

5.6 “Method Statements”

“Method Statements” means a technical document to be read in conjunction with

the drawings, specification, standards and codes of practice, technical data sheets,
schedules, work instructions and any other technical document related to a
particular work.

9.0 Responsibilities:

9.1 The Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall construction,
site coordination, site activities and implementation this method statement.
9.2 The Construction Manager, Site Engineers, Supervisors and Foremen
shall implement and execute this Method Statement.
9.3 The Store Manager/Store Material Supervisor shall be responsible for
receiving all materials delivery from the supplier / manufacturer to site store.

9.4 Site Engineer / Supervisor shall check all the materials as per approved
Material submittal & manufacturer’s instruction before site installation
and shall be responsible for the execution as per approved shop drawings.
9.5 Safety Officers shall ensure that appropriate & necessary measures are in

9.6 QAQC Engineer / Inspector shall be responsible for carrying out
inspections for the materials delivered on site. He shall document such
inspections.
9.7 QAQC Engineer / Inspector shall monitor the installation activities
progressively and shall record all deviation from specification in a form of
snags list or non-conformance notification.

10.0 Material Inspection / Storage:

10.1 All Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and assemblies shall
be inspected and approved by Supervision Consultant before installation on
Site. All Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and assemblies
shall be installed directly on site location in a safe, secured and tidy manner
in appropriate condition to prevent deterioration or damage. All Chilled
Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and assemblies shall be
appropriately covered and protected from weathering ill effects, open
sunshine, sand storm, and other such vagaries peculiar to the region. Items
shall be stored for ease of access, handling, stock verification , inspection,
checking by the main contractor ,Supervision Consultant representative if
required.
10.2 Manufacturers & Supplier recommendation for storage criteria should be
followed where applicable to avoid damage to product quality. The storage
areas shall be laid out to ensure ease of handling, retrieval and to avoid
damage to materials which must be properly stacked in accordance with
manufacturer’s recommendation.

11.0 Construction Sequence and Methodology:

11.1 Preparation before Installation:

11.1.1 Ensure that all Shop Drawings for Installation are latest approved and
properly coordinated with other services.
11.1.2 Ensure that the areas are ready for the installation of Chilled Water
Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and assemblies.
11.1.3 Before starting the work, check that all Safety precautions are in place.
Safety Officer shall monitor safety measures during whole installation.
11.1.4 Ensure that all the provisions, locations, Distances, levels, elevations
required are properly coordinated to Civil Works, Electrical services

and Architectural coordination which shall be checked by Site
Mechanical Engineer, Supervisors and Foreman.
11.1.5 The Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit Manufacturer
Supplier Qualified Technical Representative / Millwright Technicians
shall be available to provide the MEP Subcontractor Construction
Mechanical supervision and instruction as per Manufacturer
standards correct erection and installation of the Chilled Water Pump
& Condenser Water Pump Unit and its assemblies in accordance to
Project Specification and requirements.

11.2 Installation Methods / Procedure:

11.2.1 All Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and assemblies
shall be installed as per Project Specification (Sec.23 2123)
requirements and standards Approved shop drawings and
Manufacturer / Supplier instruction.
11.2.2 The Methods and procedure comply within the installation of Chilled
Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump
unit type such as Vertical in Line Pump and Base Mounted Pump
installed at Project site.
11.2.3 Lay out the Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit and
motor installation location as per latest approved shop drawings. The
Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump Unit as per equipment
schedule shall be installed by components parts on each concrete
foundation location with the instruction and assistance of
Manufacturer/Supplier till the whole unit finally assembled in place.
11.2.4 Installation, Alignment and levelling of Chilled Water Pump &
Condenser Water Pump units, motors and components assemblies on
the Concrete foundation shall be thoroughly checked and approved by
the Supervision Consultant.
11.2.5 Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump and Motor shaft
coupling must be completely aligned, levelled ,bolts and nuts are
firmly laid and tight to the concrete foundation plinth.MEP
Subcontractor Mechanical team shall carried out the installation with
the supervision and assistance of Manufacturer/supplier
Representative for levelling and alignment of Chilled Water Pump &
Condenser Water Pump.

11.2.6 Physically and visually check the pump with Mechanical Seals, shafting,
impeller, Bearings, Rotor; body Casing and other components parts to
ensure that has no breakage, damages, leaks and defects before start
of installation.
11.2.7 Installations of Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump unit
and assemblies connected, interfacing with BMS & HVAC System
should be as Project Specification, UL standards, QCS and
Manufacturer instructions.
11.2.8 Factory Flange Cover on the pump and discharge nozzles must be
removed prior to installation at site project.
11.2.9 Installed Supports, Vibration Pads Isolators, brackets, and Anchor
fasteners to the equipment and piping connection shall be as per
approved material submittal and Manufacturer instruction.
11.2.10 Completion of piping connection, valves packages, fittings, parts and
accessories in accordance to Manufacturer / supplier instruction.
11.2.11 Ensure that all valves, strainers, drain cock pipes are installed
correctly that shown direction of flow as per approved shop details or
coordination drawing and Manufacturer & supplier instruction
11.2.12 All Installation, termination of Electrical power supply, Control panels
devices parameters, interface to BMS and other major connection
with Chilled Water Pump & Condenser Water Pump unit set up
synchronization to Centrifugal Liquid Chillers Units and Motors, Heat
Exchanger and piping main components shall be in accordance to
Project Specification requirements, QCDD and Manufacturer /
Supplier instruction policy.
11.2.13 Operational and performance data requirements, Pumps curves
diagram of the unit with Pre Commissioning Checklist provided by the
manufacturer/Supplier shall be executed during Start Up and
Commissioning stage.
11.2.14 Provide safety protection cover to all Chilled Water Pump &
Condenser Water Pump and components parts installed during the
remainder of construction period.

12.0 Inspection and Testing

12.1 After completion of the work, The Site Engineer & Supervisor who perform an
activity are required to raise an RFIA with complete attachment &
information regarding the scope of inspection, including necessary drawings
highlighted clouded mark to show the scope of inspection. He shall
systematically check inspect their work. The Field inspection shall be
performed according to typical Checklist & approved Inspection & Test Plan

12.2 The Site Engineer & Supervisor completed their inspection and testing. The
RFIA shall be submitted to QAQC Department who shall check and process
the documents to have completed work inspected by Supervision Consultant
for their approval.

12.3 Inspection for all completed installation works shall be performed by the joint
Construction team ( Mechanical & Electrical) QAQC Engineers, Consultant
and with the instruction and availability of Manufacturer / Supplier
Representative to perform such Answers for any relevant question of Unit
Installation, performance field testing required of the Chilled Water Pump &
Condenser Water Pump Unit components parts and assemblies under Actual
operating condition shall be in accordance with Project requirements and
manufacturer/supplier recommendation and instruction.

Note: RFIA must be processed and submitted to Supervision Consultant 24 hours

before the actual inspection and/or witnessing.

13.0 Health, Safety and Environment

Safety of all personnel and equipment is the highest priority of ETA-Debbas JV during
the execution of the Works.

13.1 Personnel Protective Equipments:

13.2.1 Safety Tool Box Talk / start shall be given by the Site supervisor /
Safety officer every week and/or as deemed necessary.
13.2.2 Safety tool Box Talk / start shall brief the task / subject and shall be
given in languages understandable by multinational workforce.
13.2.3 Safety Tool Box Talk / start attendance shall be recorded on a sheet
and signed by attendees.

13.3 Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

13.3.1 All materials shall be identified and all MSDS should be read and
understood before use.

13.4 Housekeeping

13.4.1 Housekeeping shall be maintained by all personnel working at site.

Housekeeping for fabrication and installation shall be as per project
safety plan and ETA-Debbas Safety Manual.

13.5 Signage

13.5.1 All necessary safety warning and caution signs shall be displayed at
work locations.

13.6 Environment

13.6.1 All materials shall be kept by the storekeeper and a copy given to HSE
Dept. The MSDS shall be followed as per Qatar labour law. Waste
Disposal shall be segregated and disposed by a Certified
Subcontractor and send it to the municipality stockyard for COSH
material as per Qatar law.
