TITLE: MOBILE PHONE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT

1.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES(LO):


CLO1: diagnose fault of electronic equipment related to electronic equipment repair
using the correct diagnosis technique and tools (C4, PLO2)
CLO2: fix the post-consumer’s electronic equipment fault using the correct diagnosis
technique (P4, PLO5)
CLO3: demonstrate good social responsibility in solving well defined engineering
problems during performing electronic system and appliances maintenance task
(A3, PLO6)
2.0 OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students will be able to:

1. Recognize equipment used in mobile phone repair


2. Identify types of faults and damages.
3. Show the parts of mobile phone
4. Assemble anddisassemble the mobile phone

3.0 EQUIPMENTS/TOOLS

1. Soldering iron/gun with soldering iron station


2. Desoldering tools ( eg. solder sucker or solder wick )
3. Mobile Phone Repair tool
4. Several types of mobile phone

4.0 THEORY

The Mobile Phone is the best thing that science and technology has given to us.
The mobile phones have its uses and disadvantages. With time and continuous usage
these electronic communicating devices, require phone repair and replacement services
from time to time. Accidental damage, wear and tear, moisture, dust, etc. develop faults
and improper functioning of the mobile phone. Proper maintenance and care can avoid or
prolong the repair service requirements to some extent.

Sony, Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Apple, Motorola, BlackBerry, Lenovo, etc. are
some of the companies which have rolled out wide varieties of models with lots of
variation as per the requirement of the customers. Mobile phones, tablets, phablets are
some of the broader variations.

The different types of faults and damages which usually occur in all brand mobile
phones are categorized into two major categories, as given below:
1. Hardware faults
2. Software faults

Hardware faults: Normally, any type of physical damage caused to the mobile
phone amounts to the Hardware fault. The common hardware faults are given below:
1. Vibrator problem
2. Screen repair
3. Battery problem
4. Camera problem
5. Auto turn off problem
6. Backlight problem
7. Signal connectivity problem
8. Auto Charging problem
9. Dead set condition
10. Hanging problem

2. Identify the suitable tool or equipment and fulfill at table 1

Disassembly and assembly


1. Choose one of the various types of mobile phone (Sony, Nokia, Samsung, HTC,
Apple, Motorola, BlackBerry, Lenovo)
2. By referencing step-by-step instructions in the user's manual, disassembly the mobile

3. Identify the parts and damage that may occur to the mobile phone.
4. Complete the description on the table 2.
