About 96 percent of all Google revenues are derived from advertising programs, with the balance coming
predominantly from licensing agreements. Using technology from a firm named DoubleClick, Google can
better determine user interest and effectively target advertisements, thus enabling Google to charge more
for their service.
Google’s market success is strongly attributed to their very creative Human Resource (HR) team or what they
call as “people analytics team.” This team reports directly to the Vice President (VP) of the company and has
a representative in each major function of HR. The team produces many products, including dashboards and
employee surveys, to identify insightful correlations and to provide recommended actions to organizational
problems. In addition, Google provides free food to its employees; 20 percent time allowance from the
regular work hours, to think creative thoughts that will mostly benefit Google; and a wide-ranging benefits
and fun activities such as on-site haircuts, massages, bowling alleys, gaming rooms, pools, and playgrounds,
which the employees may enjoy any time of the day, even during work hours. It is indeed the company
culture which brings Google to its current state of success.
The employee benefits of Google are a big help in the company’s success. Giving
benefits or initiatives to employees can make them do their job better. Google provides free
food to its employees and 20 percent allowance to think of new ideas that can benefit them.
The company also offers on-site haircuts, massages, bowling alleys, gaming rooms, pools, and
a playground which the employees may enjoy anytime. The environment or the office where
the employees work plays a significant role in their performance. The office of Google has a
good atmosphere and an excellent place to work in. The employees can do such activities
whenever they feel tired or want to refresh their minds because we all know that you can’t
innovate if you’re stressed out.
The company culture is what made Google its current state of success. It was made
possible through the help of the Human Resource team or what they call the “people analytics
team.” The team is responsible for producing products, including dashboards and employee
surveys, for addressing and solving organizational problems. Fixing administrative issues is
essential because how can your staffs or employees innovate if the situation inside the
company is not that good. Remember that the employees are what makes the company as a
whole.
3. Propose different ways on how Google can attain a more superior competitive advantage
through organizational culture.
The company may celebrate a sports fest once a year. Sportsfest is an event with a
combination of sports and a healthy lifestyle. There will be a different team, either every
department or mixed with the other departments. The members from different groups will play
sports and the team with the highest score will be the winner. This event can make your
employees closer and comfortable with each other because the games will require teamwork.
Sportsfest can help the employees relax from their workloads and learn about team building
which is very important in an organization. This can make them efficient when doing their job.
