    1. To accurately attach a patch pocket, tailor's tacks or basting should be used to mark the pocket placement lines on the garment. 2. The pocket should be placed on the fabric and pinned with the corners aligned to the marks. It is then basted close to the finished edge to hold it in place. 3. The pocket can then be sewn approximately 1/32 inch from the edge or hand sewn using a hem stitch. After sewing, the basting stitches are removed and the pocket is pressed.

    Patch Pocket
    To attach a pocket well, accurate pattern chalk
    marking is essential. It is best to do this by means of tailor's
    tacks or even
    trace basting. If you are using a checker or striped fabric, the
    pocket fabric
    must be alligned with the checkered or stripes on the garment.
    ATTATCHING PATCH POCKET

    Steps on how to attach a patch


    pocket.
    Step 1 & 2
    • Mark the pocket
    placement lines on

    the garment with tailor's


    tacks.

    • Take the completed pocket and

    place it to the fabric, matching the

    corners with tailor's tacks. Pin in

    position

    Step 3:
    • To make sure the pocket remains in

    the correct position, baste around the

    edge along the sides and bottom.

    Keep the basting stitches close to the

    finished edge of the pocket


    Step 4 & 5:
    • Sew approximately 1/32 in (1mm)

    from the edge of the pocket.

    • Remove the basting stitches.


    Press.

    Step 06:
    • Alternatively, the pocket can be

    hand sewn in place, using a hem

    stitch into the underside of the pocket

    seam. Do not pull on the thread too

    tightly or the pocket will wrinkle.

    ATTATCHING PATCH POCKET

    ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:


    TEST 1: ENUMERATION
    Write letter A to F to enumerator the following.
    ____ 1.) Sew the approximately 1/32 inch (1mm) from the edge of the pocket.
    ____ 2.) To make sure the pocket remains in the correct position, baste
    around the edge along the sides and bottom. Keep the basting stitches close
    to the finished edge of the pocket.
    ____ 3.) Alternatively, the pocket can be hand sewn in place, using a hem
    stitch into the underside of the pocket seam. Do not pull on the thread too
    tightly or the pocket will wrinkle.
    ____ 4.) Remove the basting stitches. Press.
    ____ 5.) Take the completed pocket and place it to the fabric, matching the
    corners with tailors tacks. Pin in position.
    ____ 6.) Mark the pocket placement lines on the garment with tailors tacks.
    Test 2: Fill in the blanks
    6-10: Complete the statement by filling up the lines with the
    missing word.
