SARS-Cov-2 viral or Coronavirus has been the reason of 2020 pandemic.
Lockdown were imposed
which gives a devastating effect towards the economy. Flights were banned, small business where closed and some workers lost their jobs. Health workers are risking their lives fighting the pandemic. Several of them died in serving our fellow men. On January 30, SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA was reported to be detected by PCR in the Philippines. The person was identified as the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the Philippines. The government ordered strict flight ban from the specific country and impose some regulations to prevent the virus from spreading. On March 12 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the suspension of all travel by land, sea, and air to and from Metro Manila over concerns from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. Additionally, all public gatherings have been banned and the suspension of classes. From this, the coronavirus disease spreads and some of the provinces imposed total lockdown including Cebu. On March 28,2021, the Cebu city government, led by Mayor Edgardo Labella, decided to follow the steps of Metro Manila – which is to implement Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the strictest form of community quarantine or lockdown. Due global pandemic cause by the Coronavirus the total lockdown has been imposed until June 2021. On June 2021, the DepEd announced that 2020-2021 academic year will be opened. Asynchronous classes where introduced namely as: modular and online learning. Majority of the students choose modular learning due to lack of resources such as internet and laptops. Modules were provided by the teachers and the students submitted their answers on the given specific dates. As Modular learning runs, many problems have been encountered by the students. Some students posted their frustration because they cannot do the given task due to the difficulty of the topics. With this reason, I conducted this research. This study aims to determine the major problems students have encountered while coping with modular learning of the Grade 8 students at South Poblacion NHS- Math and Science school during the school year 2020-2021. This guided by the questions: what are the problems that they encountered, how did the major problem affect in their performance and how did they dealt with it. With this, we can know the lapses of the modular learning and have resolution towards these lapses so that there will be lesser problems for the succeeding academic year in asynchronous classes
