Introduction
Greenhouse is a structure that are has closed environment and able to regulate conditions
beneficial for optimizing the growth of a specific plant. Parameters inside and outside is being
closely monitored to ascend favorable condition affecting the whole development of selected
crop. Nowadays, various technological innovate is being introduce and practice, wherein
automation of farming activities is already served. There are various sensing technologies that
can employed to utterly collect data relevant on the parameters present on a greenhouse
structure. Sensors are being establish which can be used in conjunction with control systems that
can adapt greenhouse conditions automatically. Moreover, given the unsteadily change of
weather that ascends high temperature, sensors can execute low temperature condition leading on
higher yield of crop that is sufficient for human consumption. The different sensors that measure
and report data for environmental monitoring and condition automation are on the following:
Temperature Sensor - It is an electronic device that can able to measure temperature inside of the
greenhouse, it can able to read, process, and collect data when temperature set has change. It
requires fan in to fully lower down the temperature and set it on favorable level.
Humidity Sensor - This device is used to measure the level of moisture presents on air. Also, it
can be used to quantify the minimum amount of moisture on the air. It is being measured to
secure photosynthesis process inside.
Soil Moisture Sensor – It is a device used to measure the amount of water present in the soil.
Light Sensor - This device is use for assessing the exposure of plants to light. It is being regulate
to make the whole structure adapt on the lighting requirements of a crop. The two types of light
sensor use in greenhouse are global radiation and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR).
Soil pH Sensor - It measures the current pH level of soil and must be set on recommended level.
It’s important indicator of soil’s health. Soil pH influence the availability of soil nutrient, how it
reacts with one another, activity of soil microorganisms, and growth of plant.
Air quality Sensor - This device can able to measure the concentration of airborne substances
detrimental inside a greenhouse.
Carbon dioxide Sensor - This device is used to measure the concentration of CO2 entering on the
air vital for plant’s development.
