The theoretical groundwork of this study is anchored on the Theory of Career Choice
Holland’s Theory in 1959. Holland’s Theory (1959), explains the concept of an
individual’s personality, interests, and values to determine the best and most
appropriate choices. He discovered what is recognized as Holland’s codes, or
RIASEC. It is used to assist an individual in understanding how to decide while
considering the major factors of decision-making in ourselves and our opportunities.
His theory explains why individuals are influenced in choosing matters by peers,
colleagues, family, and relatives. After all, they choose to engage in opportunities
with them rather than socializing because they want to collaborate in a setting with
which they are familiar and comfortable.
This theory interprets the concept of an individual’s personality, interests, and values
to determine the best and most appropriate choices. RIASEC is used to help
individuals understand how to decide while considering the major factors of decision-
making.
John Holland’s Theory relates this study to further allow students to understand the
matters they see as a consideration in determining their choices, for example, the
things we do and can do are called skills, and the people or persons who have the
same choice that his study emphasizes. Unquestionably, students consider taking the
same path as their companions. They choose to be with someone they can engage in
activities or opportunities with very comfortably and have fun with, especially in
academics. Doing things with the companion you wanted to be with is something
students consider and choose, for they might not want to lose communication with
them or they might want to talk comfortably about the same matters or topics that they
could both relate to as they were experiencing the same thing. Just as this study
enables us to see how students could impulsively decide because of these things, they
might
realize that they must further evaluate themselves to determine where they are needed
the most and what they can do and achieve. It also relates because the career
opportunities that we will have in the future will also be relevant to the strand or track
we choose, so choosing which strand or track in senior high school will also help you
get an introduction to or gain insights into what you should anticipate in college.
