At the end of 45 minutes, with 75% proficiency level, the pupils should be able
to:
a. identify the terms related to a circle;
b. draw objects involving circles; and,
c. cite the importance of circles in real life.

TEAMWORK

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. TOPIC: Circle and its Part’s
B. REFERENCE: Mathematics 5, Pp. 232-235
C. MATERIALS USED: Pictures, task card, marker, pencil, manila paper,

III. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1) Prayer
➢ Everyone, kindly stand up.
➢ __ can you please lead our prayer. ➢ Let us pray
2) Greetings
➢ Good morning my dear students ➢ Good morning teacher
3) Opening Song
➢ Let us have our energizer. Kindly stand up
again and let us sing the “I love Math”.
➢ __ kindly lead the song
4) Checking of Attendance
➢ Are all present today? ➢ Yes teacher
5) Checking of Classroom Standard

➢ Keep quiet
➢ While the class is going on, what are the ➢ Listen to the teacher
rules that we must follow? ➢ Sit properly
➢ Raise your right hand if you want
to answer.

6) Passing of Assignment
➢ Do we have an assignment yesterday? ➢ Yes teacher
➢ Kindly pass it in front without making any
noise
7) Review
➢ Yesterday we have discussed all about
ratios in simpliest form.
➢ What is simplifying ratios? ➢ Simplifying ratios is just the same
as simplifying ratios since ratios
can also be written as fractions.
➢ How do you simplify ratios? ➢ To simplify a ratio, divide all of the
numbers in the ratio by the same
number until they cannot be
divided any more.

8) Drill
➢ Class, let us all first recite the multiplication
table starting 9.
B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

MOTIVATION
➢ Do you want to play a game class? ➢ Yes teacher
➢ For our game today, I am going to show you
a slide of pictures and you are going to
guess it.
➢ Did you understand class? ➢ Yes teacher
➢ Here are the pictures

➢ Can you name each pictures? ➢ They are wheel, one- peso coin,
eyeball, manhole, and ball.
➢ What do you think the following pictures ➢ They are all circle shape teacher
have in common?

➢ Now, what do you think will be our lesson

today? ➢ I think our lesson today is all about
circle and its parts
1. ACTIVITY
➢ Before we proceed to the groupings, I have
here a fact sheets that you must read.
➢ I will divide the class into 3 groups.
➢ Each group will be given a task.

➢ I will give you 10 minutes to answer your
task.

➢ Group 3 how did come up with your

answer?.
➢ Since we are given the length of
diameter, we will just divide it by 2
for us to get the length of the
radius.
➢ Is there any questions or clarifications ➢ None teacher
class?

3. ABSTRACTION

➢ If none, let’s now proceed to our discussion

this day
Terms related to the Circle

Chord- A line segment joining two points

on the circle. In circle A, CE AND BG are
chords.
Diameter- A chord that connects two
points on the circle and passes through the
center of the circle. In circle A, BF is a
diameter.
Radius- A line segment from the center of
the circle to any point on the circle. The
radius of a circle is one-half the diameter.
In circle A, AB, AF, AD and AH are radii.
Central Angle- An angle formed by two
radii. In circle A, <BAD, <BAH, and <HAF
are central angles.
Inscribed Angle- An angle whose vertex is
on the circle. In circle, <FBG is an inscribed
angle.

➢ Let’s use the word problem that you have

answered awhile ago.

Dina measures a circular pond and finds

that its diameter is 24.5 meters. What is its
radius?
SOLUTION:

Radius measures half of the length of the

diameter. Radius is the distance between a
fixed point on the circle and the center.
Diameter is the distance of two given points
on the circle that passes through the center.

Thus,

ANSWER:

The radius of the circular pond is 12.25

meters.

➢ Did you understand now class?
GUIDED PRACTICE
(The teacher will paste a worksheet activity on the
board, and the students will answer it individually.)
Answer Me!

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
(The teacher will call a random student to answer
the problem that has been posted on the board.)

Diameter: CT

Radius: AC, AT, AL, AN

Chord: BF, CM

Central angle: <TAN, <LAT

Inscribed angle: <TCM

GENERALIZATION
➢ What are the terms related to the circle? ➢ Chord, diameter, radius, central
angle and inscribed angle.
➢ What is chord? ➢ A line segment joining two points
on the circle.
➢ What is diameter? ➢ A chord that connects two points
on the circle and passes through
the center of the circle.
➢ What is radius? ➢ A line segment from the center of
the circle to any point on the circle.
➢ What is central angle? ➢ An angle formed by two radii.

➢ An angle whose vertex is on the

circle.
➢ What is inscribed angle?
➢ Circles are still symbolically
➢ What do you think is the importance of important today -they are often
circles in real life? used to symbolize harmony and
unity.

4. APPLICATION

➢ Again with the same group, there is another

activity that I will give to you.
Group 1. Identify the object that has been
mentioned in the sentence, then afterwards
draw a circle, measure, and find its chord and
diameter. Chord: BH, GV Diameter:GM

Rico plays basketball in the gym. He uses the

new ball that his father bought him.

Group 2. Identify the object that has been

mentioned in the sentence, then afterwards
draw a circle, measure, and find its radius and
central angle. Radius: BD, BE, BL and BK (The students will perform their task)
Central angle: <DBK,<KBL,<LBE

Liza and Ana decided to go to the amusement

park after their exam, and they are planning to
ride a ferris wheel.

Group 3. Identify the object that has been

mentioned in the sentence, then afterwards
draw a circle, measure, and find its inscribed
angle. Inscribed angle: SKG

Maria is so amazed by Dan because he is so

good at playing the instruments, especially the
cymbal.
➢ Before you start here is the rubrics for your
activity.

TOTAL: 50
POINTS

➢ I will give you 15 minutes to finish your task.

➢ You may start.

IV. EVALUATION

Direction: Write True if the statement is correct, then write False if the statement is
wrong.

1. Chord is a line segment joining two points on the circle.

2. Radius is an angle formed by two radii
3. Inscribed angle is an angle whose vertex is on the circle
4. Diameter is a line segment from the center of the circle to any point on the
circle.
5. Central angle is a chord that connects two point on the circle and passes
through the center of the circle.
V. ASSIGNMENT

Direction: Measure the radius and diameter of the circles below.
