1 General Information
Purpose of this chapter:

This chapter is mainly gives a brief introduction of Vinno products and

information needed before installing and service.

1.1 Introduction
1.1.1 About Vinno
Vinno is focusing on producing premium diagnostic ultrasound
development to provide customer clinical value through Continuous
Innovation, Excellent Performance and Accessible Solutions.

We choose Ginkgo Spirit as our Company Culture.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) is one of the oldest living tree species in the
world and its leaves are among the most extensively studied medicinal
herbs in use today. In some Asian Countries, it is the tradition of
grandfathers to plant a Ginkgo Biloba tree for their grandsons’ birth.
The tree matures and bears fruits when the grandson is of marrying
age. Just as the tree is expected to have a lengthy lifespan, it is hoped
that the grandson will also have a long, fruitful life.

4.1.5 EMI prevention

17 / 84
8000136
Ultrasound machines are susceptible to Electromagnetic Interference
(EMI) from radio frequencies, magnetic fields, and transients in the air
or wiring. Ultrasound machines generate EMI too.

Possible EMI sources should be identified before Vinno system is

installed. And possible emitters include portable phone, scanners, gel
warmers, medical lasers, computers, fans, microwave ovens etc.

The following steps can prevent EMI.

1. Keep the EMI sources away. Put Vinno scanner at least 5 meters
away from the EMI source.

2. Grounding. Poor grounding is the most likely reason that Vinno

scanner may have an image noise.

3. Tighten all screws, replace RF gasket.

4. Take good care of Cell phone. Cell phone may transmit a 5V/m
signal; that could cause image artifacts.

4.1.6 Networking setup requirement

4.1.6.1 Scanner connected to hospital’s network

Refer to “User manual” or “User Guide”.

4.1.6.2 DICOM

DICOM services provide the operator with clinically useful

features for moving images and patient information over the
hospital network. What is better than the sharing within the
hospital is that user can process DICOM during ultrasound
scanning.

Do not use the internal hard drive for long-term

image storage. CD or DVD is recommended for
image archive.

The network setup for DICOM is based on TCP/IP setup, the user
need to know the following for connecting with DICOM server:

1. DICOM server IP address

2. DICOM server port number

3. DICOM server AE title.

After that, perform connection test to verify whether the

machine is connected with the server or not. There is a Confirm
button on the “Network” page. Input “Server Path” and then

18 / 84
8000136
press “Confirm”. The system will perform server test. If it
successes, a message box will pop out, as shown in the figure
below.

If you are transmit images and information when DICOM server

is not connected, there will be errors in DICOM monitor
procedure. Users should deal with the last case before
re-connected.

4.2 Unpacking
The following procedures show how to unpack when you receive Vinno

it?

If it happens again, open the Vinnologs.

7.1.3 Isolate the cause

There may be more than one cause that can produce the same
symptom, so it is important to list all the possibilities and isolate the
real cause.

1. Check for obvious causes. Check the wires, fuses and voltage at
electrical outlets.

2. Check if the symptom may already be listed on “Known symptoms”

table.

3. Investigating and testing

60 / 84
8000136
Maybe till now, you cannot trace down the true cause. The following
steps may help you trace the true cause.

1. Is it a software failure? This can be verified by reload the software.

Even if a fix is realized by reloading, the cause of the failure needs to
be investigated.

2. Is it a hardware failure? If the problem still exists, after reloading

software, then you can check hardware to see if every part has been
work properly. If you detect a suspicious board, replace it, to see
whether the issue can be solved or not.

3. Is the environment abnormal? Are there any electrical power,

EMI/RFI, or network connectivity difficulties external to the system
affecting its performance?

4. Verify the system configuration.

5. If all are done, Verify that all the voltages are present and within
tolerance.

7.1.4 Develop a solution

When you think you know what the problem is, decide what changes
you need to make to correct the problem and write down the steps
you want to take to make the repair, especially if the sequence of your
actions is important. Even if you don’t know you need to do this for
yourself, it can be useful to others when you properly document the
problem and its resolution. You may benefit from this yourself in the
future.

7.1.5 Perform a corrective action

Proceed cautiously and systematically. Make only one change at a
time, and verify that the change you made brings about the result you
expected before making any other change.

7.1.6 Verify that the system works

After the system fault has been identified and you have performed
corrective actions to repair the failure, conduct whatever tests are
necessary to ensure that the problem is fixed and that the system
meets its optimum level of performance.

7.1.7 Return the system to the customer and close the call
After the reported problem is fixed and the system tests are
successful, return the system to the customer and close the call.

7.3 Artifacts and noises
Here we discuss about artifacts and noises that may appear in Vinno
system. Some are caused by hardware failure, some are caused by
software failure, and some can be avoided. And the list of artifacts is as
follows.

LIST OF ARTIFCTS

1. Shadow

2. Reverberation

3. Grounding noise

7.3.1 Shadow
7.3.1.1 Cause

Both air and bone will attenuate the ultrasound beam, resulting
a black drop out in the image, thus create out a shadow. And a
shadow has different effects depending on the distance from
the probe. A distant shadow will simply create a drop out behind
the shadowing object. On the other hand, a shadow near the
probe will reduce the effective aperture, thus not creating a
drop out, but instead reducing the lateral resolution.

by near probe rib.

7.3.1.3 How to avoid

After you detect the cause of the artifact, you may reposition
the probe. And the issue of shadow can be solved.

7.3.2 Reverberation
7.3.2.1 Cause

Reverberation is caused by sound pulses bounce between

different structures, thus the pulse will reach the probe lately,
and form a deeper structure.

7.3.2.2 Phenomenon
