    Orientation of Parents on the Implementation of Catch-Up Friday

    Introduction:

    The Bagumbong National High School, in collaboration with the Department of


    Education (DepEd), conducted an orientation program for parents on the
    implementation of "Catch-Up Friday." The program aimed to inform parents about
    the initiative, its purpose, and its potential benefits for their children's academic
    development.

    Welcome and Opening Remarks:

    The program commenced with a warm welcome address by the school principal,
    who highlighted the importance of parental involvement in their children's
    education. This was followed by an opening message from Ms. Lilia M. Tibay, who
    emphasized the department's commitment to supporting student learning and
    recovery through innovative programs like Catch-Up Friday.

    Presentation on Catch-Up Friday:

    Ms. Tibay then delivered a comprehensive presentation on Catch-Up Friday. She


    explained the program's objectives, which include:

     Strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy.


     Addressing learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
     Providing targeted interventions for students who require additional support.
     Promoting a love for learning and fostering a positive learning environment.

    The presentation also detailed the various activities and strategies that will be
    employed during Catch-Up Fridays. These activities may include:

     Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) sessions: Dedicated time for students to
    engage in independent reading or listen to stories read aloud.
     Review and enrichment activities: Reinforcing previously learned concepts and
    providing opportunities to deepen understanding.
     Personalized learning: Tailored interventions and support based on individual
    student needs.

    Open Forum and Discussion:

    Following the presentation, an open forum was held to address any questions or
    concerns from parents. Parents actively participated, seeking clarification on
    specific aspects of the program and expressing their hopes and expectations for

    Overall, the orientation program proved to be a valuable platform for

    Bagumbong National High School conducted LAC session in order to plan activities
    and strategies for a better implementation of the Catch-Up Fridays. They have to
    form committee to facilitate the efficient implementation of the program. The
    committee is composed of teachers who are teaching English for NRP and the
    teachers who are in-charged of Peace and Values Education, and Health Education
    are teachers who are handling MAPEH, Science, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (ESP)
    and Araling Panlipunan subjects.
