DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE
Breadline Africa has an interest in supporting libraries in primary schools and early childhood
development (pre-school) projects. All projects supported must be able to demonstrate educational
outcomes.
Breadline Africa will require a written lease agreement, title deed or letter from the
municipality/chief to process an application.
The following applications will NOT BE CONSIDERED:
o Skills development projects
o Start-up ventures (e.g. pre-schools that do not have a history of operation)
o Adult and youth projects
o Requests for storage facilities
o Requests for housing / old age homes
o Request for any type of accommodation
o Incomplete application forms
Please note:
Breadline Africa will only commit to the placement of infrastructure (i.e. a container or
prefabricated structure) and does give money to projects. Any additional requirements (e.g.
fencing, water tanks, paving, play equipment, educational material, furniture etc.) will require a
financial contribution from the applicant.
Breadline Africa does not get involved in or draw up or submit any architectural plans to
municipalities for the placement of any structures. It is the responsibility of organisations applying
to Breadline Africa to also contact their local municipality regarding the placement of structures on
their sites.
Since Breadline Africa relies on funding provided by donors, we cannot guarantee that all
applications will be fulfilled.

We are currently using a standalone house however the number of children stands at 117, with
the age of children ranging from birth to 5 years. Therefore the space we are currently using is
not enough for more interactive and imaginative learning. As children of these young ages need
a space that is big enough for them to roam around and crawl around while learning, as the
activities they partake in require interactive learning. Therefore a bigger space would create a
conducive and safe learning environment.

Containers will rust and require basic maintenance over time. Prefab units also need cleaning and painting.
Should you qualify to receive a unit, will you be able to maintain it? Where will the resources come from to
enable you to pay for this?
As a creche, ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities, whether they are made from
containers or prefab units, is essential to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the

children in our care. Maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and addressing rust issues are
part of our ongoing responsibilities to uphold the quality and safety standards of our facility. To
address maintenance needs, we implement several strategies:
Budgeting: We allocate a portion of our operational budget specifically for maintenance
expenses. This fund covers routine maintenance tasks as well as unexpected repairs or
replacements.
In-House Maintenance Team: We may have an in-house maintenance team responsible for
conducting regular inspections and addressing minor maintenance issues promptly. This team
ensures that our facility remains in optimal condition and responds swiftly to any maintenance
concerns that arise.
Contracted Services: For specialized maintenance tasks or larger-scale repairs, we may engage
external contractors or service providers. These professionals have the expertise and resources
to handle complex maintenance work efficiently.
Community Support: In some cases, we may seek support from the local community through
volunteer initiatives or partnerships with businesses or organizations willing to contribute
resources or services for facility maintenance.
Fundraising and Grants: We may organize fundraising events or apply for grants to secure
additional funding specifically earmarked for facility maintenance. These efforts help supplement
our budget and ensure that we can address maintenance needs effectively.
Overall, maintaining our facility is a priority, and we are committed to ensuring that we have the
resources and mechanisms in place to uphold the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of
our creche environment.
Please provide a short motivation for why Breadline Africa should support this application and HOW you
think it will benefit the children and the surrounding community?
Breadline Africa should support our application because investing in our creche will have a
profound and lasting impact on both the children we serve and the surrounding community. By
providing us with the necessary resources, Breadline Africa can help create a safe, nurturing,
and conducive learning environment for the children, while also fostering positive
community development.

Here's how supporting our application will benefit the children and the surrounding community:
Empowering Children: Our creche serves as a crucial early learning center where children receive
quality education, care, and support during their formative years. With Breadline Africa's
support, we can enhance our facilities to create a more conducive learning environment,
equipped with modern amenities and resources that stimulate intellectual, social, and emotional
development. Improving Community Infrastructure: Investing in our creche extends beyond the
classroom walls. Upgrading our facilities not only benefits the children but also enhances the
overall infrastructure of the surrounding community. A well-maintained creche contributes to
the aesthetic appeal and livability of the neighborhood, boosting community pride and cohesion.
Addressing Social Inequality: Many children in our community come from disadvantaged
backgrounds, facing barriers to accessing quality early childhood education. By supporting our
creche, Breadline Africa plays a vital role in addressing social inequality and promoting equal
opportunities for all children, regardless of their socio-economic status.
Building Sustainable Futures: Investing in early childhood education yields long-term benefits by
laying the foundation for children's future success and well-being. By supporting our creche,
Breadline Africa is investing in the future of the community, empowering children to reach their
full potential and become active, engaged members of society.
In summary, supporting our creche aligns with Breadline Africa's mission to uplift communities
and transform lives. Together, we can create a brighter future for the children we serve and
contribute to the holistic development of the surrounding community
