DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a professional contractor that specializes in the installation of

“wainscotting” for home owners who want to revitalize the inside of their home.
“Wainscotting” is a special type of moulding that is typically mounted on the walls
of hallways and rooms to add elegance to the surroundings.
This service appeals mainly to people who are looking to spruce up their home in
order to increase its value, often in anticipation of putting it on the market for
sale.
Here are actual samples of what our installation of wainscotting looks like BEFORE
and AFTER:

NOTE: The client is prepared to provided additional BEFORE and AFTER photos
from other projects. We are NOT NEEDING A GALLERY! Only 4 to 8 photos total
are needed.
WHAT WE REQUIRE FOR THIS PROJECT
We require a static and responsive website that is made up of ONE single,

scrollable web page (for now). YES, that’s correct! Just one single default page for
now.
Since wainscotting is often installed in bright white, we believe THIS single

webpage should appear very elegant / upscale with use of clean white space with
some graphics and overall clean design.
The page should be responsive and capable of being printed if the user chooses to
do so.
The page should appear very professional.

Here’s what we need for each section (in ORANGE)…

NAME
Our client would like to have the name “John Wains” appearing at the top as a
logo or wordmark of some sort. The name “John Wains” is a play on the famous
western movie start “John Wayne” from the 1930’s to 1950’s.
NOTE: The logo or wordmark does not necessarily need to have any western
appearance at all. However, we leave the artistic discretion with you.
Our client is not looking to spend a lot of money on a logo at the moment. A
simple wordmark would be sufficient for now. Our client says they may worry
about a better logo or wordmark at some point down the road.
The page content should be simple, with good use of white space and easy to
read font. Below are the messages that need to be displayed in some fashion.

John Wains is a wholly owned Canadian small business that is operated by [client
name], a long time resident of Oshawa, Ontario. [client name] has been providing
exceptional general home contracting services to residents of Durham Region for
over 25 years. However, in recent years, [client name] has been shifting his focus
towards smaller home revitalization projects, mostly by referral only.
Today, [client name] enjoys designing and installing wainscotting to give

homeowners newfound pride in their everyday living space. People who often use
John Wains services are home owners looking to improve the resale value of their
property. One sure and cost-effective way to do that is with wainscotting.
John Wains makes it easy for homeowners to increase the value and appearance
of their home. For [client name], it’s a passion to be able to transform boring
living space into something artistic and elegant.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We typically install wainscotting on the lower half of walls throughout the home.
This can be done in one room or on one entire floor of the house. It can also be
throughout the home (all hallways on all floors) to create a consistent look and
feel.
Our preferred approach is to stick with a classic and elegant pure white Satin
finish to limit any glare under high lit areas.
Please not we typically do not replace the baseboards in newer homes. This saves
you money in the long run. If, however, we recommend replacing the baseboards,
this will require us to make a calculated adjustment to our usual per linear rate
(see below).
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL?
While it varies from home to home, but usually it takes 2 to 3 half-day sessions
(per floor).
We usually spend 1 visit prepping and painting, a 2nd visit for installing and pre-
finishing , and then a final visit to finish.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Since we specialize in this type of work, we’ve been able to provide a pretty
accurate rate per linear foot. This cost covers all materials and labour – start to
finish – which includes the chair rail and picture box mouldings. As we mentioned
earlier, we typically do not replace baseboards.
Since the market has caused material sourcing and costs to fluctuate irregularly,
we are unable to post our rate here, simply because it could be less or more on a
given week.
If you give us a call, we’ll be able to give you our current per linear foot rate right
over the phone, without any hesitation, and without going through any annoying
and long winded questions and answers with you.
Our rate is simple.
NOTE: If we need to replace your baseboards, we will have to provide an

adjustment to our rate to cover the extra materials and labour.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
While our rate per linear foot addresses most of our engagements, we still need to
see the areas of your home where the wainscotting is to be installed, in order to
give you the best costing estimate. This can be easily accomplished by sending us
a few photographs and measurements by email.
