WEDDING SPEECH

It seems a little stupid, but it's not like that. I am referring to the structure that I propose here:
an opening, where you begin your speech, a body where you develop it, and a closing, with or
without a toast, where you finish it. I say it's stupid because it seems a bit logical, but because
it is logical, we sometimes forget.
With these three simple phases we will have our wedding speech prepared. Now that we know
this we just need to take action. Grab a pen and paper because today is the day you are going
to start writing your little speech. Whether you are the groom, the bride, the best man or the
godmother, or simply a family member or friend of the bride and groom, I want you to take a
piece of paper and start writing what comes to mind as you read the following lines, even if
they are just diffuse ideas.
We begin.

1) Opening of the wedding speech

 Say your name and what your role is in the wedding or what your relationship is with
the couple (godfather, godmother, friend, family member...)
 Thank the guests for coming to the wedding.
 If you think it is necessary, thank the banquet hall for its good work.
 Parents of the bride or groom: welcome the person who is marrying your
daughter/daughter into your family by making a loving comment about him/her.

After the previous steps, you can start with a quote or an anecdote (simply naming it, without
developing it, since the development will come in the second part, the body), something short
and concise, something where a touch of humor will make you reap some first impressions.

Ultimately, the opening is where you gain the attention of your wedding attendees. Then, the
next phase of the wedding speech: the body of the speech.

2) Body of the wedding speech

In this part of the speech you develop the ideas that you have introduced in the opening. It's
about explaining those anecdotes well or giving the reason for a quote you mentioned. Talk
about how you grew up together, school or work or party stories (be careful with these stories,
don't tell, for example, the one about that day when the boyfriend ended up on the floor
because he was so drunk).

You can also bring out the good qualities of both the groom and the bride.
You can help yourself with some poetry or song lyrics that evoke your relationship with the
couple or their own relationship. For example, you can read a beautiful poem about love to
exemplify the good relationship between the couple.

You should do all this with a touch of humor that will make your audience laugh and even cry.
After the body of the wedding speech we move on to the final part: the toast.

3) Closing or Toast of the wedding speech

To close your speech, do a brief review of the main points that made up your speech. This will
make your audience see that things are coming to an end.
If you are already at the lunch or dinner, if it is during the ceremony, do not end with a toast,
invite people to raise their glasses to make a toast to the couple.
If you don't make a toast, the easiest thing to do is to end with “Long live the bride and
groom!”
