Course Design This course is for Engineers, Technicians, Electricians and Trainees who are responsible for troubleshooting, creating and/or modifying PLC programs in their Plants. Participants will also benefit from discussions, demonstrations and examples of these common PLC models in Zimbabwe.
ParticipantsAttributes For effective appreciation and attainment of intended benefits and objectives, the participants must have at least a National certificate in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, Skilled Worker class one or equivalent and Basic computer appreciation skills. Advisable to bring own Laptops
CourseDescription The Instructor-led course provides the basic skills necessary to write, read and interpret PLC programs utilizing the Basic Operation Set. The programs will be loaded into a PLC and tested using real life modules. Plant visits will be done for this course.

Course Aims and Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: a. Install and setup the system software on Windows platforms
b. Correctly handle licensing issues for the PLC programming software
c. Configure correctly a rack/back-pane for a PLC system
d. Program basic discrete logic operations
e. Program basic comparison functions (Compararors)
f. Document a plc program after uploading a project
g. Program timers and counters (time, count events, etc.).
h. Trouble-shoot common software and hardware errors.
i. Create, Edit, Save and download a new project to a controller
j. Identify correct format of the plc programs
k. Send and recieve (share) program backups via internet
l. Explain PLC problems using correct technical terms
m. Connect and do online monitoring of running programmed
n. SETUP CONNECTIONS FOR REMOTE ASSITANCE VIA INTERNET WHERE APPLICABLE
o. Understand the requirements of migration from older to later
versions of the same plc model
p. Understand the requirements to migrate ftom one plc model to
a totaly different model
