Reference Specification

Ø RDSO has released specification No. RDSO/PE/SPEC/EMU/0196-2019 (Rev.00)


with its Corrigendum / Addendum based on 23/01/2020 (ICF) & 29/09/2020
(Railway Board) pre bid queries for producing 3-phase drive propulsion
equipment for Electric Train Sets

Ø For development of Train-18, additional performance requirement is improved


compared to normal EMU as % of motoring is increased.

Basic Unit and Rake Formation

Ø Train-18 is 16 car train with 4 basic unit i.e. two number of end basic unit (DTC-
MC-TC-MC2) and Two number of middle basic unit (NDTC-MC-TC-MC2)

Ø All power components such as Line & Traction converters, Auxiliary converter, Air
Compressor, Battery box, Battery charger, Brake chopper resister are mounted
under the frame

Ø Electronics is distributed across all the coaches.

ü Input power to Line converter comes from Transformer kept in
adjacent TC

Auxiliary Power Supply (APS)

Ø It get power directly from 2 nos of secondary windings of Transformer


Ø Transformer and Auxiliary converter are mounted in TC coach
Ø It is mounted underslung and forced cooled system
Ø Converter unit is required to generate 2 different types of voltages to serve these
loads. Those are
- 415V AC, 3phase, 50Hz
- 110V DC.

Ø Auxiliary Power supply consists of two Cubicles

ü Auxiliary Converter Unit (ACU)

v ACU consists of below modules


1) AC1 Module
2) AC2 Module
3) DC Converter Module
v ACU is mounted at under frame of TC coach

ü Battery Charging System (BCS)

v BC is mounted at under frame of DTC/NDTC coach inside battery box,


to charge the battery.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
Ø CCTV System is used to capture and record the live view from IP cameras which are
located in passenger area or in external environment
Ø CCTV System in all passenger coaches is for public security and to monitor unforeseen
movements of people to prevent incidental losses
Ø Asst. Driver / guard monitors the live views displaying in monitor which is located in
driver's cabin

Passenger Information System (PIS)

ü The Passenger Information System for Train 18 shall give required


information to the passengers in a train throughout the journey in both
visual and audio information

ü Sy s t e m s h a l l h ave p r ov i s i o n f o r p u b l i c a n n o u n c e m e n t w h e r e
driver/guard can address all the passengers in the train, Inter
Communication (IC) between Driver and Guard communication

ü The main aim of this system shall be to provide convenience to the


passengers by providing the station information and other required
information.
