Literature ARMOUR Cattle Feed
Introduction:
Due to hot and humid condition virtually all animal feeds contain mold or viable mold spores,
conditions favoring mold growth are high moisture content (usually more than 12%), availability of oxygen,
warm conditions and prolonged storage. Molds in feed causes significant economic losses since it reduces
nutrient density and affects palatability, most importantly it produces mycotoxins which are having
detrimental effects on growth, production and immunity of animals as well as milk consumers.
Mode of action:
Mold -Armour – Cattle is highly effective mold
inhibitor which is stable at pelleting temperatures,
it protects pellets against mold growth.
It acts on plasma membrane by neutralizing its
electro-chemical potential hence increasing
plasma membrane permeability of the mold.
Efficacy of Mold Armour on controlling release of CO2 produced by mold in feed 12% moisture and
tested by CO2method
