HUMAN TEETH
What are we
made up of?

Do you know that

we can be
classified based
on our structure
and function?
There are four
types of teeth

Incisors
Canines
Premolars and
Molars
INCISORS: (4)
Incisors are
chisel-shaped, with a
sharp edge.

They are used for biting

off small pieces of food
so that you can take the
food into your mouth.
CANINES: (2)
Canines are more
pointed than incisors.

These are used in the

same way as incisors
and are useful for
tearing food apart.
PREMOLARS: (4)
Premolars have broad
surfaces with ridges on
them.

These are used for

crushing and grinding
food when you chew.
MOLARS: (6)
Molars are like
premolars, but
sometimes a bit bigger.

These are also used for

crushing and grinding
food.

TOOTH FACTS
● The enamel on the top surface of your tooth is the hardest part of your entire body.
● The human mouth contains more bacteria than there are people on Earth.
● Taste buds have a lifespan of about 10 days and take about 1 to 2 weeks to regenerate.
● The tooth is the only part of the body that can’t heal itself.
● You can only see 1/3 of your tooth. The other 2/3 is hidden under your gums.

ANUS
The anus is the last part of the digestive tract.

It’s at the end of the rectum.

It's where stool comes out of the body.

It consists of a muscular ring that opens during a bowel movement to allow stool
(faeces) to pass through

Nerves and muscles surrounding your anus coordinate to tell one when one
needs to expel waste, while allowing you to hold it in until you’re able to reach a
toilet. When you’re ready, these nerves and muscles coordinate again to push
stool out of your body.

The mucus lining in your anus secretes mucus to wet the passage and help
faeces pass smoothly through.
