The Bat

Crochet Pattern

Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn, in your choice of colors
Size I/9 (5.50mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle

Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project, but made with materials used, each
finished square measures approximately 37”w x 29“h. The graph in this pattern is
130 squares w x 86 squares h.

Ch-chain
Sc-single crochet
Hdc-half double crochet
Dc-double crochet

Instructions:
Graphs included for visual assistance. All stitches are Sc, and graphs are
worked from the bottom, up. Each square in the graph represents one
stitch. When you reach a new color on the graph, for that row, you drop the
color you have, and pick up the new color, and continue to sc. You could
either carry your yarn through your work (only suggested for short areas) or
use bobbins for each color change. When you are finished, weave in all ends.

Color Changes: (This picture is used for demonstration purposes, and is not
representative of colors used in design.)

This graph is split near the center point, for ease of viewing the squares. If
you would like to print them out, simply trim the edges, and tape together
on the backside of the pages. The first graph is the right half, the second is
the left half.

This graph measures 130 squares wide x 86 squares high. Begin with a ch of
131. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each remaining ch. Ch, TURN. Follow graph
for color changes.
Finishing: Do not fasten off at end of row 86, unless changing color. Ch 1, and,

with right side facing, sc evenly around entire outer edge, placing 3 sc in each
corner. Join to 1st sc. Fasten off, or go straight to border section.

Border:
Rnd 1: Join yarn in any corner. Ch 1, sc in each st around entire outer edge,
working 3 sc in each corner. Join.
Rnd 2: ch 1. Hdc in each st around, working 3 hdc in each corner. Join.
Rnd 3: OPTION 1~Smooth Edge:
Ch 2. Dc in each st around, working 3 dc in each corner. Join. Fasten off. Weave in
ends.
OR OPTION 2~Ruffled Edge:
Ch 2. Work 2 dc in each st around, working 4 dc in each corner. Join. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

cross stitches on top! ☺
