    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

    It is a universal fact that for the study of a thesis in depth, I need the support of

    many people right from the stage of conceiving the idea to completion of the report. It is

    difficult for a single person to do the job efficiently without interaction and

    involvement of others. First and foremost, I thank The Almighty God for blessing, protecting

    and guiding me throughout this period. I could never have accomplished this without the

    faith I have in the Almighty.

    I thank my Guide Dr. M. Jeyakumari, M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D., Associate Professor,

    PG. & Research Department of Commerce, V.O.Chidambaram College. My thesis would

    have been incomplete if not for her constant guidance and direction. I am thankful to her for

    support, motivation and untiring help during the course of my Ph.D. I am thankful to the

    Almighty for giving me a mentor like her.

    My gratitude goes to Thiru. A.P.C.V. Chokkalingam, Secretary and

    Dr. C. Veerabahu, M.Sc., M.Phil, Ph.D., Principal, V.O.Chidambaram College, for their

    continuous support and encouragement. Though their contributions were out of sight, it was

    much felt in various other ways.

    I am indebted to a greater extent to Dr.C.Rathinam, M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D., Head,

    PG & Research Department of Commerce and faculty members Dr.S.Ramesh Kumar,

    Prof. M.Khaja, Dr.K.Kamalakannan, Dr.A.Arumugam, Dr.N.Maria Nevis Soris,
